The last, a horror-filled offering, may really appeal to those who want to delve more into the potential shadows of Neverland. There's a price to pay for never growing up. In that tale, as in this, Peter pays it without a qualm. Is Lost Boy great? Unfortunately no, it falls shy of Christina Henry's best. But it is good, and if you have an interest in reading a Peter Pan retelling full of violence, mischief, and childhoods that either last forever or end all too soon, this is likely a book for you! Jamie acts as a surrogate parent to the boys and is especially protective of newcomer Charlie as he is much younger than the others. Peter grows jealous of Charlie and Jamie begins to suspect that Peter might indirectly allow Charlie to die through neglect. We all believe him, at first. Even me. That’s how he lures us here with his promises. And then he rips us to pieces.”This is dark, with a constant feeling of menace. I cannot recommend it highly enough to horror fans, or just fans of darker works of fiction in general; not necessarily horror. He didn't bring magic and fun and eternal youth. He brought fear and madness and death, trailing blood behind him, trailing all the corpses of all the boys behind him.

She does not say it and he believes she is just playing with his emotions. He soon realizes that the mother's love that he has always been searching for was in the arms of his foster mother, Alice.First of all, something I feel that it's important to state is the fact that I've never been a huge fan of Peter Pan so reading a Peter Pan re-telling is a bit out of the ordinary for me... especially because this book is a horror book and I've never read anything in that genre. So, you can say that I started it being terribly hesitant and incredibly excited as well as nervous, there was no in-between of all those emotions.
