About this deal

The bass of the S12 Pro sounds just a tad fuller and especially in the midbass area. Both are pretty identical in terms of speed, layering and resolution. Instruments such like bass guitar, drums and cellos have a bit more weight and warmth compared to the original S12. The highs are crisp and detailed without over extending. They have a nice amount of openness and balance. The LetShuoer S12 Pro shares the same shape with the original S12, which is a pretty compact monitor with a minimalistic industrial design. The monitor is made from a Five-Axis CNC machines Aluminum Alloy, which is a pretty lightweight & durable material. The monitor has a pretty smooth surface with a Blue (Space Blue) finish, which is a special color selection for the 6TH-Anniversary Deluxe Edition. Tin HiFi P1 Max is another recent release priced lower than the Z12. TinHiFi opts for a resin shell instead of metal.

Like most of their planar brethren, the S12 Pro do have a somewhat unnatural timbre for acoustic instruments (especially when compared to single DD transducers). This may be a consequence of the planar drivers’ very fast transients and rapid decay. Note weight is on the thinner side. ComparisonsMid-bass - On the other hand mid-bass is very well defined and full. Notes are clearly heard and for someone who plays the bass guitar can be easily distinguished. It is not only a question of boom boom, the bass guitarist is putting together notes at different tempo with interesting phrasing, if the listener cares to appreciate the work going into the music. If not, it is important to the listener that it all hangs together well, melodic and pushes the emotional buttons which draws us to music. On the top of each monitor shell is a standard 0.78mm dia. 2-Pin female connector, which is pretty durable and that offers a tight connection with the male connectors on the detachable cable. Near the connectors is a larger pressure relieve opening that is part of the front acoustic chamber. Switching genres, in "Yellow" from Coldplay's concert in Buenos Aires 2017, from minute 2 to 2:56, the electric guitar accompanies the song very gently, only to reappear seconds later. In this chaotic harmony, where instruments and the lead singer's voice come together, you can clearly distinguish each individual sound. Chris Martin's voice has a natural timbre to my ears, and both female and male voices have good weight in the region. The LetShuoer S12 Pro has a nicely highlighted treble tuning that is shown with a decent sense of presence in the lower treble region, which is able to produce an efficient level of clarity and definition. The transitions from the upper midrange towards the lower treble region are relative smooth and controlled when I do listen to electro guitars or to soprano voices. The aluminum housings are pretty minimalistic and feature a matte finish. Build quality is top-notch. The shells are fashioned from a five-axis CNC (computer numerical control) process, with a small L and R circle on the housings denoting the left and right sides respectively. The F1s don't offer that wall-of-sound feel that the S12 PROs do, but they can also feel a little more muted.

My thoughts and opinions are of my own. My experience will entirely differ from everybody else. The contents of this review should not be considered factual as this hobby heavily leans on subjectivity. YMMV. Treble heads will rejoice because they'd be delighted to know that the LETSHUOER S12 Pro provides an ample amount of air and energy in the treble range. It is not excessively bright or harsh, striking a balance that allows for detailed and crisp sound reproduction. The same goes for the IMR EDP and EDP Ace, again like the I3s, the EDPs have been overshadowed by the S12 Pros for me. The EDP Ace however, comes fairly close with its DD bass and the note decay probably aided by piezo, the Planar Magnetic driver, if not the design of the chamber. Overall, LETSHUOER again delivers a set that is competitive and a reliable product in the ever-expanding portable audio market that solidify its reputation and credibility as one of the best and a coveted audio companies out there.

As I end my assessment on LETSHUOER S12 PRO, Its looks like S12 PRO is one of the best among the planar sets that I have tested so far with a more solid construction and more utilitarian design that appeases the minimalists and a well-thought out tuning as it tries to balance the tonal aspect of its frequencies with excellent technical performance.

When using the foam eartips with this IEM, I personally find the sound much more accurate. The use of foam eartips doesn't significantly alter the signature, but it does eliminate the V-shaped sound prevalent when using the silicone tips. Foam tips tend to mitigate both bass and treble, resulting in a more balanced and natural sound. It's important to note, however, that the reduction in bass and treble is not drastic. The most noticeable change lies in the lows, as it's evident that the sub-bass is almost gone, but the highs remain present, maintaining their level of clarity and detail.
