Yes, they are good… for the price. After many, many headphones plagued by tuning issues, the KZ AS10 are finally balanced and without the spikes and dips that characterise most of the company’s products. No more aggressive upper mids, no more overpowering mid-bass, no more fatiguing treble. This is finally a KZ product that gets tuning right. The irritating thing is that it is more than probably just a chance, as KZ is notorious for using off-the-shelf drivers without any proper tuning work.

KZ ES4 + สายอัพเกรด ของดีราคาประหยัด - Pantip รีวิว KZ ES4 + สายอัพเกรด ของดีราคาประหยัด - Pantip

Comfort is indeed good and better than I expected; considering the similarities with the ZS10, I thought it would be decent but not that great for long listening sessions. Truth is, I used them all day long for multiple days and only got some fatigue at the end of the day. The AS10 is therefore an IEM you can rely on when it comes to comfort. As subjective as comfort is, I think the KZ AS10 is much more universal than other headphones as it is small and light – so take my thoughts with a pinch of salt, as usual, but also consider the fact that they’re really one of the best IEMs by KZ in terms of comfort. KZ ED16: the ED16 stand out because of their instrument separation and soundstage, which are way better than those of the ES4. Detail is also better in the treble and bass regions, while in terms of tuning, they have more emphasis on the usual region across midrange and treble. Midrange also pops out more, yet the general impression is not that of better balance. What really prevents the ED16 from being better is the relative unbalance. Much like most of the latest generation of KZ earphones , the KZ ES4 is a very comfortable earphone to wear and does not generate in-ear pain. The ES4 is made out of a hard plastic shell and comes with a removable cable. These earphones feel pretty solid, but with such a hollow and large casing I would be afraid to step on them. Comfort is rather good, I especially like the ergonomic shape and the lighter weight of the plastic casing compared to metal earphones that often fall out. Females vocals can get sibilant(yes they can, CardiB went sibilant on Dinero by JLo). They are too sharp, sharper than ZST. But the best part is that you can hear breathe of singers. The peculiarity of the ES4 is the large-tipped nozzle: it is not straight, instead it is larger at the top so that it grips eartips better. This could cause a few issues with eartips that have a hard inner bore (e.g. Comply foam eartips, which I talked about in my best eartips guide), but should make it harder for silicone tips to come off. During our extreme bass tests the KZ ES4 were able to handle 40% of the maximum power of a Fiio E12 amplifier while being set to high gain and with bass boost turned on; a custom basshead EQ was used. The extreme amplification and equalization, made lower frequencies of the KZ ES4 achieve a massive increment of mid-bass punch and sub-bass depth that even provided a crazy basshead level of impact and rumble way above the Xiaomi Mi Pro HD, Monoprice 8320 and even stronger than the Xiaomi Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro but not as impacting as the Sony MDR-EX650 , Sony MDR-EX800ST and Pioneer SE-CX8 . The KZ ZSN are a bit unusual from a design perspective, at least when it comes to KZ standards: the shell is made of transparent plastic (with a fumé finish in my case, but also available in green/cyan and magenta) and the faceplate is made of metal. It is held in place with three screws, placed in the three angles – as the faceplate has an overall triangular shape. On top of the choice of materials, which is new for KZ, the other news is the shape which reminds me of IEMs such as the BGVP DM6. The shell is in fact similar to that of previous KZ earphones, such as the KZ ZS10 or the KZ AS10, so this is not something that we’ve never seen before. This transparent plastic exposes all the innards, so one can easily see the (relatively) large dynamic driver and the balanced armature. The nozzle is made of metal (aluminium?) which should make it much more durable than usual plastic.

The sound that leaks out of the KZ ES4 is very low. While listening to music at a moderate volume their sound leaking levels will be imperceptible by nearby people. If you set the volume to the very maximum people next to you will hear a very subdued leakage (if first you do not become deaf by their super strong volume output) Seperation was good throughout my audition with only mild crowding on large orchestral pieces. (This again unlike some previous attempts that sounded as if the philharmonic had been crammed in Volkswagen bus and then asked to perform). Like the ZS10 before it, the AS10 does not offer a high level of passive isolation from external noise, providing just a bit of reduction in volume and not much more. Using foam tips helps reduce noise a bit, but they can’t replace the isolation that the shells do not offer. KZ ZS4: the ZS4 are much more heavily V-shaped, with bass and treble that are much more prominent than mids. Those appear heavily recessed and a bit distant. Bass is almost overbearing, leaking over the mids, while treble is not really detailed despite its large presence. The ZSN are much more balanced, and they have better technical ability, too. Though it is not a radical difference, the ZSN offer slightly wider soundstage, better imaging and better instrument separation. They’re also faster, which leads to percussion instruments being more lively. An EQ adds a jaw dropping amount of brightness and become noticeably more detailed. Piercing highs can also be efficiently eq’ed to reduce their strength.

The KZ ES4 features 4 drivers in total, distributed in 2 per earpiece. The dual driver setup includes 1 balanced armature and one 10 mm dynamic driver, each driver will independently be responsible of reproducing different audio frequencies – the dynamic driver will take care of the lower end while the balanced armature will resolve mid and upper frequencies.
