About this deal

As we’ve said in earlier posts, the best screen size for this resolution is a 24-inch minimum; anything larger than that stretches the pixels a little, resulting in blurrier pictures. I’m not sure whether it has anything to do with the fact that I was previously using a monitor with a higher PPI, but one thing is certain: a 27-inch display with a 1080p resolution isn’t a fantastic combo. In general, this display does not have a traditional gaming appearance. The HP X32 surprised us with its gaming features, but casual look. And this one will most likely cause the same.

Returning to this model, it has a refresh rate of up to 165hz, making things much more fluid. You’ll have a nice smooth experience with this feature, whether you’re playing games or using it in everyday usage. Still, I understand why things are the way they are. They saved money by using the VA panel, which allowed them to increase the monitor’s gaming qualities and keep the monitor within a pre-determined price range. The HP Omen X 27 was the first 1440p 240Hz model available. When it was released, there were no IPS and VA alternatives. Nowadays, you can find an IPS or VA model with just as good performance and better image quality for the same price, thus making the Omen X 27 obsolete.

Tentokrát zabrousíme do herního segmentu, a to s monitorem HP X27. Pojďme se podívat na to, jakou laťku HP nastavuje. S ikonkami, které reprezentují jednotlivé funkce, HP rozhodně nešetří. Platí tedy pravidlo, že čím víc samolepek, tím lépe?

Rec. 2020 coverage is only 67%, which is only 5 percentage points better than sRGB-only displays like the PX277 Prime, and behind other monitors that target DCI-P3. I guess this is why HP didn't advertise a wide color gamut, it straddles the middle between standard and wide. Default Color Performance They managed to adopt one of the highest brightness ratios for this monitor while keeping the pricing relatively stable, resulting in an improved price-performance ratio. With 400 nits, you’ll be able to get an edge during games by seeing your opponent easier in a dark place.

We do get an extension to the Rec.709/sRGB gamut in the red, yellow and magenta directions, but no extension for greens or cyans. This creates a bit of unbalance for DCI-P3 coverage, we get decent coverage of reds, but poor for greens, and only 91.2% coverage in total. A bit strange, and not very suitable for displaying color accurate wide gamut images. Moving on, the HP Omen X 27 input lag performance is impressive, with just below 3ms of delay at 240Hz, which is imperceptible.However. there is no inverse ghosting present, as there is no overshoot, typical of settings where overdrive is not used. Cumulative deviation is only modest, suggesting the balance between response times and overshoot is unbalanced in favor of minimizing overshoot. Of course, if you only use one of those displays, the difference during use will be minimal, but if you compare both, the motion blur of the HP x27c during the use of MPRT will be much more visible. Besides, even if sunlight hits the screen, which is a bad thing for a lower brightness ratio, this one can manage it effectively and without struggle.

Supports Adaptive-sync with NVIDIA® GeForce® graphics cards and AMD Radeon graphics cards. FreeSync™ certified. Compatible with NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 10 series, GTX 16 series and newer graphics cards. The HP Omen X 27 supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which provides a variable refresh rate (VRR) within the 48-240Hz/FPS (Frames Per Second) range for compatible graphics cards.

All performance specifications represent the typical specifications provided by HP's component manufacturers; actual performance may vary either higher or lower. Results may vary based on quality of the original picture/photo/video and difference between the previous monitor settings compared to the HP Enhance + mode. Out of the box, greyscale performance is average. The X27q ended up a bit too warm, and the gamma was too high, making some shades darker than they should be. This caused weak deltaE performance.

Alas, the Omen X 27 uses a TN panel, so common downsides such as narrow viewing angles and inferior image quality are still present. Image Quality The HP Omen X 27 1440p 240Hz gaming monitor has a fairly slim but sturdy design with ultra-thin bezels. It has a rather aggressive matte anti-glare screen coating, which some users may find too grainy, but it’s tolerable. However, don’t expect the IPS or VA levels of color and contrast quality due to the monitor’s specified wide color gamut, HDR support, and local dimming features. This stand allows you to tilt, swivel and adjust the height to what makes it more comfortable for your use. Also, if you wish to mount the monitor on the wall, you won’t be having good use for those adjustments, and this monitor has you covered with its VESA support, which allows you to do so without any further hassles. What we're left with is the monitor being unable to provide a single overdrive mode experience. This is pretty typical for a budget monitor, we don't expect perfect overdrive optimization here, it's a standard area of compromise as integrating features like variable overdrive would increase the cost. What’s more, since there are only 16 dimming zones, they cannot quite keep up with fast-moving objects, which will introduce noticeable trailing/glowing. So, for fast-paced gaming, make sure local dimming is disabled.
