About this deal

Bob: You see, God wanted the Israelites to win that battle. But that meant that someone had to fight Goliath. Even though David was just a kid, he knew that if God wanted him to beat Goliath, he could do it. That showed just how much David trusted God, and that's why he became such a great king for Israel. The first episode not to have Mike Asparagus, Laura Carrot, Grandpa George, Mr. Nezzer and Mr. Lunt since their debut appearances. The Announcer: And now it's time for Silly Songs with Larry, the part of the show where Larry comes out and sings a silly song. One day while talking with Dr. Archibald, Larry confronts one of his deepest fears. In the silly song you'll notice some pictures. The first picture is the contract from "Daniel and the lion's den" on Where's God When I'm S-Scared?, the second is a still shot of the mountains of Flibber-o-Loo from "The story of Flibber-o-Loo" on Are You My Neighbor? and the last one is just a picture of Archibald. Love My Lips will return in Very Silly Songs!, The Ultimate Silly Song Countdown, Heroes of the Bible!: Lions, Shepherds and Queens (Oh My!), Sing-Alongs: Do the Moo Shoo, Sing-Alongs: I Love My Lips, Silly Little Thing Called Love, and If I Sang A Silly Song.

Larry the Cucumber: 🎵 That'd be too bad, I'd be so sad, I might get mad, I'd call my dad. That be too bad. 🎵

Did we miss something on diversity?

Larry the Cucumber: 🎵 When I was just two years old, I left my lips out in the cold. And they turned blue. What could I do? 🎵 Bob: The children of God. The Bible says that the Israelites were God's chosen people. God led them through the desert, He helped them walk across the Red Sea and whenever they went into battle, God was there with them. They've always known that if God was on their side, no one could stand against them. The first episode where the staff of Big Idea didn't get tired and made everything on budget and made on time according to the behind scenes if you have the DVD.

Dave jumps onto his sheep and leaves, while King Saul, Jimmy, Jerry, Tom and the Israelites cry happily. The sun goes down while Dave's still riding the sheep, as the screen slowly irises out on Dave and the sheep, the sheep falls over while Dave's riding on it, before the screen completely irises out.)Bob: (Narrating) That's how things had pretty much always been for Dave. Nothing really exciting happened around there. Until one day, when their dad, Jesse, came running out with some horrible news. King Saul: You're not going to sing, are you? (Dave nods) Couldn't you just play your harp and I'll throw things at you? (Dave shakes his head) Oh.

Bob: Now in our story, no one thought David could do anything important. After all, he was just a little guy! Why, even King Saul tried to change David by putting his own armor on him. It kind of reminds me of another guy who thought he had to put on a costume to be special. This is the only TV appearance of Goliath. He will appear again later in the book titled, "How Many Veggies?". Not counting VeggieTales in the House/ City and The VeggieTales Show, this is the shortest episode of VeggieTales, at nearly 29 minutes long. However, it does have the longest countertop scenes. The sheep tipping over was something Phil came up with since it would be dull for them to be just standing around while doing nothing. In the original 1996 version, there are some sound effects missing (i.e. some of Goliath's stomping noises). This was corrected by adding them in when the episode was remastered in 2004 for its VeggieTales Classics re-release.After the theme song, the episode opens on the countertop, but with a cardboard city landscape as the camera pans across the city landscape.)
