About this deal

Made by Austin-based A&F Drum Co., Big Bertha II claims to be the largest bass drum in the world, measuring just over 9.5 feet in diameter and 55 inches in depth in comparison to other drums. The Purdue Big Bass Drum's original 1921 dimensions are 7 feet and 5 inches in diameter and 41 inches in depth, as confirmed in 2013 by Hayleigh Colombo of the Indianapolis Star using microfilm stored at the Tippecanoe County Public Library in Lafayette, Indiana. [6] However, the Leedy Manufacturing Company (the Purdue Drum's original manufacturer) increased its size by "several inches" in 1937. [7] Big Bertha II is larger than the University of Missouri's Big Mo measuring 9 feet in diameter and 54 inches in depth.

Rolling: Drum rolls involve the rapid and controlled repetition of strikes on the drumhead. This technique adds a cascading effect and builds anticipation, heightening the rhythmic intensity. When it comes to the impact of drumming on the fan experience, one cannot underestimate the powerful effect it has in enhancing fan unity and fostering a sense of belonging. The rhythmic beats and pulsating rhythms create a shared language among fans, transcending cultural and language barriers. It unites individuals under a common passion, igniting a sense of camaraderie and belonging within the fan community. The synchronized beats of drums create a collective heartbeat that resonates throughout the stadium, creating an electric atmosphere that fans can feel deep within their souls. Whether it’s the thunderous surdo drums during a samba performance or the rhythmic chants accompanied by drumming in European football, the impact is undeniable. Enhancing Fan Unity and Sense of Belonging

A club was set up in the area around 1918 and was known as O'Carolan's Gortnaghey. [2] St Colms's GAC Drum was officially founded in 1937. The club's first major honour came in 1940 when it won the Dr Kerlin Cup and in 1941 it won the club's biggest honour to date; the Derry Senior Football League. Five years later, after winning the North Derry Senior Football Championship, the club reached the Derry Senior Football Championship final, only to be denied by Magherafelt in a close encounter. Drum reached another Derry Senior Championship final in 1956, but was defeated by Bellaghy. In that year Eugene McCaul and Séamus McCloskey from Drum were part of Derry's first ever All-Ireland Minor Football Championship winning side.

The first few games were a learning curve and there were plenty of vocal detractors on social media. But three weeks in, they’re really in the swing of things. “It’s funny ’cause it went from a lot of people saying, ‘The DJ at home is doing a terrible job’ – a lot of people think we’re just DJs, which is funny – but now you won’t even see a comment. For sound engineers our goal is to be invisible, so it’s good that we’re not being harassed any more on YouTube.” For other uses, see Big Bertha (disambiguation). The Big Bertha name was chosen to evoke the famous German Big Bertha howitzer and has been used for two Texas bass drums, with the second debuting in 2022. Both Big Berthas have laid claim to being the largest bass drum in the world, with the second currently holding the title. Drumming traditions vary across cultures, showcasing the rich diversity of rhythmic expressions in football fan communities worldwide. Let’s explore some notable examples:
