Like a lot of the extrusion-type printers today, the Ender-3 V2 Neo’s default filament is PLA. But it’s also compatible with PETG and ABS. The Ender 3 V2 Neo similarly upgrades the Ender 3 V2. By and large, the V2 Neo offers the same functionality and features as the V2, with the biggest improvements being in terms of ease of setup and ease of use. Creality has made an effort to make this 3D printer as beginner-friendly as possible. In fact, it might just be one of the easiest 3D printers to get started with in its price segment.

Like most other printers in the Ender 3 series, both the Ender 3 V3 SE and the Ender 3 V2 Neo have a 220 x 220 x 250 mm (8.6 x 8.6 x 9.8 in) build volume. This is a respectable build volume and matches many other 3D printers from Creality and other brands, but if you need to print larger objects, one of Creality’s larger machines would be a better choice. Build volume is a case where bigger isn’t always better, though, because a larger build volume also means the machine itself will be physically larger. Size and Footprint Klipper does not work with the Ender 3 v2 Neo display out of the box. It is possible to wire the display directly to the GPIO of the Pi and run some additional software to have an interface similar to the original although some people go without an interface on the printer at all and just use a phone or tablet as a temporary or permanent UI. Mainsail is another front end specific to Klipper than is very similar to Fluidd. In fact, it is possible to use both Fluidd and Mainsail on the same pi to manage the same printer at the same time, due to the way that Klipper works. kiauh can also be used to install Mainsail.
Both the Ender 3 V2 and Ender 5 Pro have Creality’s silent V.4.2.2 mainboards charged with the heavy lifting under the hood. As for firmware versions, the Ender 3 V2 has Marlin 2.0 pre-installed, while the Ender 5 Pro comes with Marlin 1.8. As far as I can tell, the PTFE tube and coupling is basically the same as other Ender 3 printers and the Creality replacement kit (with Capricorn tubing) worked fine for me. Build volume determines the size of the prints you can create, so is a feature well worth mulling over before pulling out your credit card. The Ender 3 V2 has a 220 x 220 x 250 mm build volume, while the Ender 5 Pro offers a slightly larger 220 x 220 x 300 mm.

So, what does the higher price tag land you? Firstly, you get the same cube frame, well-proportioned 220 x 220 x 300 mm build volume and the nippy bed heating of the original Ender 5. From there, the Ender 5 Pro pivots with a V1.15 silent mainboard with TMC2208 drivers for quieter printing compared to the Ender 5. There’s now thermal runaway protection in case things get a little too heated, too. Bed handle. I think these are the same as for other Ender 3 models with the same sized bed, but it's nice to have a way to easily manipulate the bed without having to touch the surface. The display and user interface on the Creality Ender 3 V3 SE are improved compression to the Ender 3 V2 Neo. While the controls are similar—both printers use a jog wheel with a button to navigate the menus—the Ender 3 V3 SE’s screen can display more colors and includes more information than what you get on the Ender 3 V2 Neo. Bear in mind that there’s a trade off between speed and precision. As you increase your print speed, you might see a fall in the quality of your 3D object. The Creality Ender 3 V3 SE and Ender 3 V2 Neo differ in a few important ways, such as their extruder style and user interface. We’ll cover these differences in detail and point out where you may benefit from choosing one of these printers over the other. Extruder and Hot EndThis comes in handy if you have a large collection of models but the names are difficult to discern the models from.

The Ender 5 Pro is ever so slightly more suited to more temperature-sensitive materials like nylon that require hotter nozzle temperature to print well.This was one of the major improvements on the Ender-3 V2 Neo. Its build plate is removable, bendable, and made out of steel. For this particular set of prints we had power outages unfortunately, which the Ender 3 V2 Neo recovered from owing to its power outage recovery features (discussed further in the next section!). The print quality would have been smoother without these issues most likely, and when it had an uninterrupted run, the print quality was high. Resume Printing – Print Resume / Filament Run-Out Sensor They look identical at first glance. But when you look closely, you’ll immediately see the effects of layer height on the two prints. On the left halloween pumpkin, the layers are almost visible while the right one has a smoother texture to it. A built-in tool box allows you to keep important tools close at hand! A button-type tensioner ensures tightness and prevents layer shifting. Creality says that the Ender 3 Neo and Ender 3 V2 Neo both feature a v4.2.7 32-bit silent mainboard. However, the v4.2.7 appears functionally identical to the v4.2.2 on older models, albeit with some minor tweaks in stepper motor wiring to suppress noise production. So, don’t expect any performance enhancements over the v4.2.2 mainboard on the older machines.

So, we printed the halloween mini-pumpkin on the left at 0.1 mm, and the one on the right at 0.2 mm. This is what they looked like. We’ve never seen a direct-drive extruder on a Creality printer at this price point, and that feature offers enough added value that we think it’s worth purchasing the Ender 3 V3 SE over Creality’s other entry-level printers.A much better all-metal extruder smoothes filament loading and extrusion consistency with a handy adjustable bolt to fine-tune gear pressure to suit different filament types. The Ender 5 Pro swaps the plastic tubing for brand name Capricorn Bowden PTFE tubing, raising the printer’s printing potential when fed flexible materials and cutting down on unwanted movement and other common filament loading problems. Klipper offers a huge array of settings and options for tweaking the performance of your printer. It can be a bit overwhelming, but the promise is that it can yield higher quality prints and higher speed printing at the same time by using many tuning parameters to compensate for printer vibration and movement. See also, pressure advance and resonance tuning. As of yet, there is no official Ender 3 v2 Neo printer.cfg available, but most of the settings are the same or similar to the Ender 3 v2 example. Depending on the specific board version and chip, the configuration may be slightly different. Looks and construction-wise, the Ender 3 V2 changes from its predecessor with a sharp, sheet metal injection and plastic panel design, doing away with the low-cost look for a more cohesive finish that gives it an extra touch of class. More specifically, we needed to know if there is a noticeable change in the print’s quality as the print speed increases beyond what it’s comfortable with. They hold the position of the bed of Ender-3 V2 Neo much longer and with this we don’t have to do the manual leveling often and it has the auto leveling sensor but even then it is important you will see later to do the manual bed leveling first to make the surface parallel with the moving pad of the nozzle as much as possible in that case less has to be compensated by that information collected by the auto leveling sensor and it’s easy to assemble.
