About this deal

That being said, the Turret is not really what you’d think of as a “gaming” keyboard. It’s essentially the same kind of flat chiclet keyboard you’d find on a MacBook laptop, with a bit more spring to each key press. It works well and will be more than enough for those not looking to play fast-paced games on it, but it was a little bit of a problem when I tried to play Overwatch or Warframe. The flatness of the keys and the lapboard overall meant I had to twist my hand slightly to hit a certain combinations of keys, like pressing Q while keeping my fingers on WASD. It wasn’t terrible, but it was noticeably more difficult than using a full-sized keyboard.

Optional accessories and fiddly accessories notwithstanding, the Corsair K63 Wireless is an absolutely delightful wireless gaming keyboard. At times, we keep forgetting that the keyboard is wireless because our experience is completely devoid of input delays and drop-outs. The only truly new design elements you’ll find on this keyboard are the additions of a power switch and mini USB charging port on the rear side of it.If you're into the overall vibe of Couchmaster's other products but don't need the special cushions to complete your setup, the Couchmaster Lapboard² will get you up and running comfortably in your living room. This lapdesk takes the gaming surface of the Cycon² and delivers it as a standalone product, giving you a massive, sturdy space with ample room for a full keyboard, along with a sizable mouse pad. You even get wrist rests, improving the ergonomics of this setup.

This is another product that’s great if you’re planning on making a long-term investment. Because you can replace the wrist rest and mousepad, you’ll never have to worry about wear-and-tear impacting the viability of the Roccat Sova.Comfort is a main concern when it comes to lapboards, and it's an aspect that was not overlooked in the design. A dense memory foam covers the bottom of the lapboard and makes it comfortable to have on your lap, even for long sessions. The K63 and lapboard together isn't very heavy either, weighing in at about 5.5 pounds. Build quality is impressive; there aren't any parts that feel flimsy or loose, and there's no excessive bulk that would make it cumbersome. One other criteria in comfort to consider is how wide of a lapdesk do you want. You should buy one that's wide enough to balance properly on your lap even if you're legs are spread out wide. What's more, your larger play space will also allow your hands to sit apart from each other at an ergonomic distance. When gaming, you always want to have your arms far apart and a wide lapdesk will allow you to do this. Other considerations include how much surface space is needed, whether you'd like USB or power options, and if an included keyboard may be something that interests you. Lapdesk FAQ What is a lapdesk? The Roc cat Sova, also available in a membrane version, is the classic middle of the road option when it comes to gaming lapboards. It’s smaller and cheaper than the Corsair Lapdog and more capable than the Razer Turret. You can absolutely get better keyboards for less money, but the Sova’s cushions, mousepad, and wrist wrest make it the best possible way to get a desktop experience while sitting on your couch. While the product comes fitted with a wrist wrest, it’s not nearly as large as some of the other competitors on this list. While this might not be an issue for some gamers, it’s critical to note that the Razer Turret Mechanical can feel a bit compact .

Lapboards most commonly refer to flat surfaces that allow you to comfortably game from the couch or bed, as they’re designed to hold your gaming keyboard and your mouse. Alternatively, you might be looking for a lap desk, which can hold your entire laptop or even your lunch. Either way, you should know exactly how big the surface is, so you know if it’ll fit your intended electronics. (The first four products in this article are lapboards, while the last two are lap desks; either way, the dimensions are listed below each option for reference.) This product is designed for mobility. The foldable design means it reduces in size when you’re not using the keyboard. If you want a simple, sleek product that also benefits from high-end gaming hardware, it’s hard to see where you can go wrong with this product. The Sova is generally an easy-to-use lapboard, but it is a big piece of plastic that will be sitting around in your living room. Even if it doesn’t have much of an effect on your gameplay experience, finding a spot to store a lapboard like this is important. Razer's Turret is much smaller and designed to be easily stored, but the Sova is thinner than Corsair's Lapdog and doesn’t detach into two pieces. That made it much easier for me to find a place for it in my living room when not in use. The USB cable that plugs into the computer also has a point where it can disconnect (similar to a wired Xbox 360 controller) close to the board itself, which made putting away the cord a lot easier. This popular wireless gaming lapboard is produced by Corsair, a prominent computer hardware company based in California. Corsair is known for producing high-end gaming keyboards and a host of other peripherals. As with all high-end gaming components, it must feel good to use. The responsiveness of each key press and quality of the mousepad are just as important as any other factor when comparing your options. It doesn’t matter if a lapboard is perfectly sculpted to fit on your lap if the keyboard feels like garbage to game on. And lapboards have more to get right (or wrong) as they are offering a keyboard and mousepad in one product.

Couch gaming and the living room PC are on the rise, but you don’t have to settle for a controller.

Wireless mouse (sold separately)|PC with a USB 3.0 or 3.1 Type-A port|Windows® 10, Windows 8.1, or Windows 7*|Internet connection for iCUE software do This product does not include a keyboard or mouse. It also doesn’t have any designated areas to attach or place your hardware. This might prove slightly annoying for gamers who want more stability.

One reviewer wrote: “It's exactly what I needed. I work from home a few days a week now and I just wasn't comfortable at the table with my laptop. With this, I can sit for hours on the couch and get work done. It has a nice spot for a portable mouse and a very convenient slot for a cell phone.” Do you like the idea of lounging while you work? Well, the HUANUO Lap Desk lets you do just that. With it, you get a large 21-inch by 13-inch surface area that can be raised to 11.5 inches or lowered to 8.5 inches, making it the perfect height to slide over your legs while resting in bed or on the couch. It’s even made of sturdy bamboo, so it’s both lightweight and durable. Still, it’s essential to keep in mind that this product is much larger than the other options on this list. If you want to take advantage of the full benefits of this product, expect it to take up most of your couch or bed.In addition to being comfortable, a good lapboard has to be usable—both when you are and aren’t playing games. With the exception of the Razer Turret, these lapboards can be big and heavy, and where you put them when they aren’t in use isn’t something most people think about until they suddenly have a 2+ foot long keyboard tray taking over their coffee table. How easy cables are to manage and if you can get up to use the bathroom without throwing your setup into disarray make a real difference in how willing you’ll be to actually use your lapboard. Between the wireless setup and compact tenkeyless design of the K63 Wireless, it’s easily a portable keyboard. But, while we can see ourselves bringing it over to a friendly LAN party, we still can’t imagine taking this wireless keyboard to a big esports competition over a tried-and-true wired keyboard like the Logitech G Pro. Whether you’re more into FPSes or puzzle games may influence which lapboard is best suited to your gaming needs. But what I can say with full confidence is that any of the three options above are better than a keyboard on your lap and a mousepad on the sofa cushion next to you, and they’re almost definitely better than the cheap wireless keyboards with built-in touchpads you may have seen. You’ll benefit from four USB 3.0 inputs that allow you to control your keyboard, mouse, and gaming headphones. It’s an excellent choice for Xbox One users. Gamers benefit from up to 32 feet of range without any lag increases.
