To test this stroller, we considered a number of different attributes like weight, design, durability, portability, maneuverability, and how easy it is to fold. We tested it alongside competitors in our lab, and used it at-home over the course of three months to gain real-world insight. We first recorded things like weight and measurement, then ran the stroller through a number of tests to determine its overall functionality and performance. It took us just less than 10 minutes to assemble the City Tour 2 Double, which involved opening the frame, attaching the four wheels and apron, and adjusting the straps and hood. We also tested the carrycot. What’s in the box? Being so slimline, the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double has a really compact Z-shape fold, however our tester wasn’t all that impressed. The City Tour 2 Double is light compared to the other double buggies, such as the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double (15.5kg), and can be carried using the frame or seat straps. When unfolded, Liz could just about manage to carry it up and down stairs with the carrycot attached. The materials are good quality and the City Tour 2 Double boasts a robust metal chassis with sturdy plastic components that feel strong enough to hold two toddlers. However, you can get compact double strollers with widths similar to a regular stroller to enable you to fit through any standard sized doorway easily. The 15kg maximum limit will last families up to three or four years, but the seats are also deep enough to accommodate taller children. Our tester's eldest particularly liked the adjustable calf rest. We tested the buggy with a baby in the carrycot and a four-year-old (who was already over the weight limit at the time of testing) in the main seat and then used a heavy bag to see how it would cope with the weight of two toddlers.
What about the instructions?
It is called a double ‘umbrella’ stroller for a reason. However, some double strollers have small canopies that do not offer proper shade from the sun. The bassinet attaches to the pram with connecters and has been approved for overnight sleeping when removed from the frame. It also comes with a mattress cover. What about the harness? This stroller maneuvers exceptionally well across different surfaces, including grass, gravel, and carpet. In fact, our testers gave it a near-perfect 4.8 score for maneuverability. It’s easy to push and feels lightweight when doing so. Our testers barely notice the difference when transitioning from gravel to carpet or hardwood, so it provides a smooth ride with barely any bumps felt in the handle bar. The wheels turn quite well with a tight radius. The foot break is easy to latch and unlatch, providing extra convenience and safety. Both the pram and seats come with a UV50+ canopy to prevent any arguments between children. They are extendable, giving decent coverage, and come with pop-out sun visors for extra protection as well a mesh peek-a-boo windows. Is there a rain cover? Our tester used it to take her daughter to nursery, to go to a café and on dog walks. She loved that she could strap her children into the buggy inside her house, which wasn’t possible with all of the prams she tested. There is such a large range of lightweight double strollers out there so think about what kind of budget you have before starting your research.
Key specs
Obviously you can’t expect even a small double stroller to be as compact and portable as a single stroller. It is a twin stroller, so you have to expect some bulk.
While we’re not sure the wheels will last four years, the rest of the pram feels made to last and offers decent value for money. Final verdict The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double isn't going to turn heads, but it’s a practical double buggy for parents who want to get around easily. Reclining seats are super important when you are travelling as routines tend to get out of kilter and there is often a time when you want your kids to be napping on the go.

By the end of the week-long testing period, there were no stains left behind and the frame looked as good as new, but the wheels were a bit pitted.
