About this deal

In 2001 the logo was redesigned again. The lines and letters on the red shield are now colored gold. All the elements are enlarged — the gold cannon, green and red crest and the gothic lettering on the top. As for the “Victoria Concordia Crescit” inscription on the ribbon under the shield, it also gained a more modern look and is now written in a bold sans-serif, using red capital letters. 2002 – Today The military constitution of the Board of Ordnance was strengthened when, on 26 May 1716, a Royal Warrant directed that two companies of artillery (of a hundred men each, plus officers) and a separate corps of twenty-six military engineers (all officers) be formed on a permanent basis: this marked the foundation of the Royal Artillery and the Royal Engineers. Both had their headquarters in the Warren for a time and (when not mobilized for war) they were regularly engaged in its work. His eight seasons at the club saw him make 394 appearances and also become a key player for England. In 1886 workers at the Arsenal formed a football club initially known as Dial Square after the workshops in the heart of the complex, [20] playing their first game on 11 December (a 6–0 victory over Eastern Wanderers) in the Isle of Dogs. Renamed Royal Arsenal two weeks later (and also known as the 'Woolwich Reds'), the club entered the professional football league as Woolwich Arsenal in 1893 and later became known as Arsenal F.C., having moved to north London in 1913. [21] Royal Ordnance Factories F.C. were another successful team set up by the Royal Arsenal but only lasted until 1896. a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o Saint, Andrew; Guillery, Peter (2012). The 1949 emblem returned. The symbol is painted the same way as the small shield on the 1996 logo. 2011 – 2012 Martin Keown also joined to give Arsenal a formidable defence that helped them win the Cup Winner’s Cup in 1994, beating Parma 1-0 in the final. Ashley Cole In 2011 the special anniversary logo was designed, to celebrate the 125 years of the club’s history. The stylish shield was decorated with a laurel wreath and ribbons, where “1886” and “2011” was written. The two parts of the wreath were connected by the “Forward” inscription. It is a brilliant representation of strength, progress, and development. Symbol The redesign of 1922 brought a simpler and stronger logo, without additional ribbons and other ornate details. It was a single cannon, enclosed in a horizontal oval frame, with the wordmark under it. The cannon was facing right, to the east. 1925 – 1930

In 1925 the cannon changes its direction and gets more distinct contours and a darker shade. “The Gunners” inscription was placed near the cannon, on its right. 1930 – 1936 The Board of Ordnance was both a civil and a military office of State, independent of the Army, overseen by a high-ranking official, the Master-General of the Ordnance. Both branches, civil and military, were represented at the Warren; indeed there was a great deal of overlap: military officers for the most part headed up the civil departments, and civilians often worked alongside the military personnel. [6] The civil establishment [ edit ] The first Master Founder, Andrew Schalch, served in post for 54 years before retiring in 1769 at the age of 78. In 1770 a revolutionary horse-powered horizontal boring machine was installed in the Foundry by his successor, Jan Verbruggen which inspired Henry Maudslay (who worked at the foundry from 1783) to his inventions improving the lathe. Remarkably, it remained in use until 1843 when a steam-powered equivalent replaced it. With no intention of fighting this young upstart for a place, Debuchy moved to Saint-Etienne in 2018 on a free transfer after Arsenal cancelled his contract to shut him up.

From 1947, the British atomic weapons programme, called HER or High Explosive Research, was based at Fort Halstead in Kent (ARDE), and also at Woolwich. The first British atomic device was tested in 1952; Operation Hurricane. In 1951 the AWRE moved to RAF Aldermaston in Berkshire. ARDE, which had its origin in the Research and Design Departments of the Arsenal, retained its Woolwich outstation there until the 1980s.The “Arsenal” lettering is drawn in white with a gold outline. It is executed in a bold and elegant sans-serif typeface, which is very close to Clear Gothic TS DemiBold and Monotype Clearface Gothic fonts, but with modified lines, creating a unique and memorable style. But I believe that, given time, it will be seen as a much more exciting and dynamic badge than the current one. Having reached such a significant landmark, it would have, again, been so easy for Arsenal to relax and get complacent. The summer came and went, and the team regrouped to target a new record: Nottingham Forest’s 42 game unbeaten run, the longest run without defeat in English football. Arsenal need to avoid defeat in just three more games.

On the emblem of 1925, the gun is deployed to the left. This option was used over the next five years. 1930 – 1936 Perhaps the first thing that jumps out at you is how the largest fees have all come in recent years which, I guess isn’t much of a surprise. Still, it’s glaring. The symbolism of Arsenal FC traces the historical heritage. Most logos depict guns that, for unknown reasons, are deployed either east or west. The only exception is the club badge of the 1930s: the abbreviation AFC in art deco style.
