Dear reader, you will have guessed by now, that removing the rubber strip didn't make the noise go away and despite having stripped out the whole centre console, poked and prodded and done everything I can think of, it's still there. While I love the car and now understand 'lexus', and even upgraded my wife's Rav4 to an RX, Rattles seriously let it down, and are still the main annoyance that makes me want to swap the car

2. Your bike sounds like a banjo

After you park, try to replicate the sound manually — it goes without saying, but you should take the key out of the ignition at this point. Again, you’ll want to push against the dashboard, but avoid punching it. The impact noise may conceal the underlying rattle. Besides, using unnecessary force can often exacerbate the problem. 2. Open the Trim Panels and Secure the Internal Components After you remove the trim panels that are making the noise, look at what they’re hiding. Reach into the compartment and try to shake any of the parts you see.

Dash rattle - my dash was rattling around the air vents which demist the windscreen, I couldn't pin point where so after removing the glove box and tightening screws and applying tape to different places I found the possible cause. I read on a forum that an Audi dealer gave a can of silicone spray to a customer complaining of a squeak and it worked. I used the above spray and it seems to have worked a treat, just spray it all around where the dashboard meets the windscreen. Aluminum is the second most widely used metal after iron and as such has a robust and well defined UK and international supply chain Please note, I'm not OCD or anything, the only car I have had in the past that has had as many rattles as this car was a Rover 25! I've not been to the dealer about any as I don't have any close by... Aluminium subframe systems for rainscreen are designed in accordance with BS EN 1090-3:2008 and / or Euro code 9 – Parts 1-4

Until recently, I had a fairly typical level of dashboard noise. Some minor dashboard creaks and rattles that seemed very dependent on ambient temperature. Some days there was hardly any dash noise at all. However, I decided that I could make it much better by buying some rubber sealing strip and inserting it between the dash and windscreen. Once installed, the strip was pretty much invisible unless you knew it was there, and it did completely silence any of the exsiting dashboard noises. And I felt pretty pleased with myself .. for a while. What’s more, consider that the sound isn’t coming from the surface layer of the dashboard at all. You might be dealing with internal components, like loose cables. Ultimately, you won’t know until you perform diagnostics, which may even include taking a peek inside the dash. How to Stop Dashboard Rattle Loose trim parts are often behind the various rattling sounds your dash might produce. The plastic and metal bits that make up the surface layer of your dashboard shouldn’t be vibrating against each other. Even more importantly, they shouldn’t be shaking against the internal components that keep them fixed in place. Either way, if they have too much leeway, you’ll have to take it away. Thought I'd share the rattles I've fixed in the hope of helping others and maybe getting some tips for the other rattles.

When you’re sitting in the driver’s seat, the dashboard is right in your face. That’s why any noise it makes is so annoying — and it’s also why I can’t stand rattling sounds coming from car doors! If you’re anything like me, you may lose your temper at the first sign of a rattle. However, as understandable as punching it may be, doing so would only make the situation worse. Drivers side lower, knee airbag and lower trim panel. Stuffed this entire area with foam strips, not a 100% fix yet so need another go at it, but I think the source of the issue is the lower narrow panel, so going to try and build more tension in an isolate it a bit better. or maybe the airbag fixing. only rattles when cold, but it is a persistent one until the car warms up.My theory is that the strip has caused the vibrations to travel further and they have shaken something loose somewhere behind the instrument cluster. While dashboard vibrations aren’t necessarily a life-threatening problem, you should still get rid of them as soon as you notice them. After all, your dash is directly in front of you when you’re driving — which is the one time you cannot afford to be distracted. With that in mind, let’s see how you can find the exact location of the rattling. 1. Pinpoint the Location of the Loose Part Aluminium is inherently corrosion resistant however this can be complemented and further improved by additional treatment including anodization whilst still maintaining a Euroclass A1 fire rating.
