In an age of auto tuned singers and new albums sounding as if they were made to measure it is a pleasure to hear that the old masters are still working hard at their craft. Parsons engineered the third solo album by Steven Wilson, The Raven that Refused to Sing (And Other Stories), released on 25 February 2013. You Are the Light" is another ballad, sung by Parsons himself and including clever vocal arrangements and nice strings. You can watch the video for “I Won’t Be Led Astray” HERE : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fik4SgsAnjM All in all, From the New World, apart from the cheap cover artwork, is a nice late addition to the canon of this 73-years old gentleman, whose right hand I once had the great pleasure to shake after a show here in Hamburg in 2004, when he tirelessly wrote autographs, until everybody was satisfied. The Alan Parsons Project– Eye in the Sky– Grammy Nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical As well as receiving gold and platinum awards from many nations, Parsons has received thirteen Grammy Award nominations. In 2006, he was nominated for Best Surround Sound Album for A Valid Path. In 2019, he won his first Grammy Award for Best immersive Audio Album for his remastered 35th anniversary edition of Eye in the Sky. [10] Though he clearly could’ve continued his highly successful recording studio career, Parsons went on to form The Alan Parsons Project in 1975. He credits singer/lyricist Eric Woolfson, the other half of the duo, for being “the main mover and shaker” in instigating this career shift. It turned out to be a good move: their international hits include “Games People Play,” “Time,” “Eye in the Sky,” and “Don’t Answer Me,” among many others.

His father was Denys Parsons, the grandson of the actor Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree. Denys Parsons was a scientist, a film maker, and the press officer for the British Library, as well as a talented pianist and flautist. He developed the Parsons Code as a means of classifying musical melody and was the author of The Directory of Tunes and Musical Themes (1975, revised 2008). [22] [23] [24] Even with all of those achievements, Parsons isn’t content to rest on his hard-earned reputation. In fact, he remains as motivated to create as ever.

From The New World is Alan Parson’s sixth studio album since disbanding The Alan Parsons Project, and it is probably the closest sounding album to The Alan Parsons Project in his solo career. This is not a bad thing, but the album certainly has its foundation in the original sound of The Alan Parsons Project. As with previous Alan Parsons albums, he continues the practice of employing a number of musicians and vocalists. However, the end result is a singular sound/view of Alan Parsons. In that time, the revered musician / producer / engineer released two live albums: The Neverending Show: Live in the Netherlands last November, and then One Note Symphony: Live in Tel Aviv in February. This summer, his prolific streak continues with a highly anticipated new studio album, From the New World , which is set for release on July 15. Of all his collaborators, guitarist Ian Bairnson worked with Parsons the longest, including Parsons' post-Project albums: Try Anything Once, On Air, The Time Machine and The Secret.

During 2010, several media reports [15] [16] (one of which included a quote from a representative of Parsons), [17] alleged that the song " Need You Now" by country music group Lady Antebellum used the melody and arrangement of " Eye in the Sky". Legacy Recordings, the catalogue division of Sony Music Entertainment, celebrated the 35th anniversary of Eye in the Sky with the worldwide release of a definitive deluxe collector's box set, featuring rare and unreleased material, on 17 November 2017. The Secret" (nobody knows, why it wasn't included on the album of the same name) is too long and suffers from utterly boring drums, but nevertheless it's got a certain The Beatles charm (hey, John Lennon!). Nothing against classical music - some of the world's most beautiful art is reflected in classical pieces. In fact 'Goin' Home appears the be based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's 'New World Symphony'. With Parsons and Tom Brooks providing lyrics, the result was pretty, but sounded like something pulled off a Broadway cast album. Parsons vocals were .. well they were certainly heartfelt. On 19 July 2018, Parsons and engineer Noah Bruskin opened a new recording studio, ParSonics. ParSonics was used in the recording of Alan Parsons’ most recent album The Secret. [18] [19]In 1998, Parsons became vice president of EMI Studios Group, including the Abbey Road Studios. He soon left the post, deciding to return to more creative endeavours.
