About this deal

Beginner guitarists need a low-cost instrument that is durable, yet easy to play. The C40 is Yamaha’s solution to this demanding set of criteria. Yamaha have done it again! An incredibly budget-priced guitar with an outstanding build quality and tone.

The C40II might be one of Yamaha's most inexpensive full-size classical models, but its quality and tone are outstanding. A real bargain for beginners. Wonderful product, crisp sound, good build, did not struggle to replace guitar strings and found all included accessories were made to a high quality.Truss rods are becoming more common in other beginner nylon string models. They provide more strength against the effects of heat and humidity and allows the action to be slightly adjusted. It's a great choice for first time acoustic guitar owners, although if you are serious about classical guitar you will want a more expensive model. And, since the vast, vast majority of guitars made are non-left-hand models (and left-hand models tend to be more expensive than their non-left-hand equivalents), learning to play a standard non-left-hand guitar opens up more possibilities for the future.

the overall sound of the guitar when not buzzing is more than acceptable, if this guitar was manufactured to a decent finish including set up, it would be fine. As for color, it was listed as Natural, but we found it to have a light vintage tint in reality. Despite not actually having a natural finish, we quite liked the finish. Thank you for your interest in our C40 Mk II Classical Guitar. The C40 Mk II is a fantastic instrument and perfect for beginners of classical guitar guitar playing (for instance, traditional Spanish guitar music). (For those with smaller arms, or for classical guitarists looking for something more compact, our CS40 Mk II model is a 3/4 size version of the C40 Mk II.) A beginner’s guitar should be the right size and easy to play. If the guitar is too hard to play, a beginner is more likely to give up.I recently bought a second-hand Yamaha C40 to run it through its paces. I’ve analyzed every aspect of the instrument to reveal its strengths and weaknesses. Services Guitar Workshop Electronic Repairs Workshop Music Store Events & Workshops Piano Showroom Music Lessons Recording Studio An alternative to the C40 Mk II would be our CG122 Classical Guitar - it's the same size as the C40 Mk II, but crucially it has a solid tonewood top. This hugely improves the resonance (and therefore the warmth and richness) of the guitar's sound compared to a laminate top as the C40 Mk II has (where - to keep an affordable price - the top is actually made up of many layers of wood strips and glues which work against the natural resonance of the guitar). In turn, because it sounds so good, beginners often enjoy playing for longer at a time - helping them to progress. Great instruments for beginners and young learners.
