About this deal

Decide how many colors you want to use for the rosettes. Divide the frosting into smaller bowls, and color each one with gel food coloring. If you want to add leaves, be sure to color some of the frosting green. You can also use a tip brush to get into those little nooks and crevasses of your tips, especially good for cleaning star and drop-flower tips! Star piping tip works with buttercream, royal icing, meringue batter, whipped cream, even deviled egg filling or mashed potatoes Hi. I’m making an Italian pastry (zeppoles) and unsure as to what tip to use. I’ve been told a large star but don’t know if it’s an open or closed one… Can you pls help me out with the exact nozzle I need. Reply

1M vs 2D - Comparing Piping Tips - Cupcake Piping Tip 1M vs 2D - Comparing Piping Tips - Cupcake Piping Tip

Decorating is easy, as long as you have the right tools. And when it comes to Wilton tips, the 1M and 6B at among the best! Just remember to practice, practice, practice! A must have when icing! I am new to icing but have to say I have many icing nozzles But this is certainly the best and most used ! You don't need to be a pro in icing to use and get great compliments from everyone! To create delicate ruffles and petals with a defined structure, make sure the wider end is the closest to your cake, and the thinner end faces upwards. 5. Wilton #5 Lines come in very handy for projects like the one below. (Disclaimer: I used a different star tip for this cake but you get the idea.)Besides grass, you can use a grass-shaped piping tip to make wreaths and pine trees, perfect for the Christmas season! The most popular piping tips people often get when first starting to pipe cupcakes is the 1M which is an open star tip and the 2D which is a closed star tip, but which one do you use for which swirl? In this weeks video I thought I would compare the two so you can see the differences and this will hopefully help you choose the right one the next time you are piping cupcakes. The 1M or the 2D Rosettes will work with a wide variety of frosting recipes, from simple American buttercream to silky Italian meringue. Even something like cream cheese frosting will work, provided it is not too soft. With this decorating technique, you want to use a frosting that is medium consistency–stiff enough to hold its shape once piped, but not so stiff that the edges are ragged and uneven. For this reason, store-bought canned frosting won’t work–it’s too soft to make nice rosettes. 🧁Here are a few of my favorite frosting recipes to try: There are some quirky and fun specialty piping tips out there. One of our favorites is a tip that pipes out a grass-like effect. They’re fun and while you’ll find that you may not use them often, they’re still pretty handy to have in your toolbox. Another fun option is a tip that creates a basketweave texture.

Cupcake decorating has come a long way in recent years, and it all comes down to having the right tip and knowing how to use it. In this practical tutorial I’m going to show you seven of my favorite decorating techniques using two Wilton tips–the 1M and the 6B. To pipe leaves onto the cupcakes, take your choice from the popular Wilton leaf tips. I personally reach for the leaf tip #352 and leaf tip #70 the most. I believe Love is the key ingredients when it comes to baking! Every time you bake, you are creating your own unique masterpiece. Be proud of your masterpiece and have fun in the kitchen! Use a palette knife or gloved fingers to pinch the end of the rosette where the frosting broke away from the piping bag for a cleaner look. Make sure that you use a crusting buttercream frosting recipe when piping rosettes. Although crusting sounds not-so-pleasant, it is important. Crusting means that the outside layer of frosting will form a slight crust, protecting the shape of the piped buttercream. If the buttercream is too soft, i.e. not a crusting buttercream, it is more likely to melt and/or be injured with the most minor of touches.

Specialty Piping Nozzles

Featherweight Decorating Bags – Made of flexible, durable polyester material, these decorating bags can be reused over and over again. Available in a variety of sizes ranging from 8 in. to 18 in., these bags have a grease-resistant coating inside, so icing won’t seep through. They are dishwasher safe and only get better with age! One really popular style of cupcake is the rosette, made to look like a pretty rose on the top of your cake. Using the two different tips the 2D is definitely my favourite for this effect. As you pipe the rosette from the middle out, the sides of the swirl slightly bend over and look like there are hidden petals on the inside really giving that rose effect. Video Tutorial – Comparing the 1M to the 2D First, crumb coat your cake. Then, begin to pipe the buttercream rosettes. Hold the piping bag perpendicular to the side of the cake. As you squeeze out frosting, create a swirl shape.
