About this deal

GaN-based semiconductors require much smaller space to deliver the same power as silicon. This is why a standard silicon chip can be replaced with a GaN chip that is much smaller in size. As a result, GaN chargers are relatively smaller than standard chargers while being more efficient and delivering more power. Ugreen claims that this means it can charge an iPhone 13 to 60% in 30 minutes or fully charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro in 1.5 hours, and thanks to the latest GaN chipset, it's three times faster than Apple's standard iPhone charger. Those claims stood up to scrutiny in my tests, although the big caveat here of course is that they only apply when one device is plugged into the charger and in the relevant port for its power requirements. While Ugreen’s case appears compelling on the specs table, real-life performance is what matters. To test the actual caliber of the charger, I tried five different devices with it and noted the charge taken by each device in 30 minutes to establish a level playing field. These devices were left untouched during the charging period to prevent varying workloads from affecting the results.

Ugreen tells me that the 100W GaN charger can be plugged in 10,000 times and even contends that this is higher than the industry standard. That many charging cycles means you can easily use it for a decade, and by then, there will be a better technology that will replace it. Should you buy it? Multifunctional Design: 360° rotation, phone stand, and adjustable angle make it convenient for videos and conferences. The external shell comes in a dark gray color and feels similar to a brushed aluminum surface in terms of feel. This gives the charger a premium appearance, and it could even succeed in fooling you that it is made of metal and not plastic. Overall, the charger feels robust, and while I would not recommend doing so consciously, it should be able to withstand some moderate falls. Supported charging standards High-Speed 100W USB C Charging Station: Charges MacBook Air M2 and two 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops simultaneously.

Lastly, you cannot fast charge phones from brands like OnePlus or Oppo that offer superfast but proprietary charging. Availability Ugreen includes a graphic (shown above) that explains the variable wattage of the different ports based on what's plugged in. For example, if you have two devices connected to the first two (100W) ports, the top port outputs 65W and the second port delivers just 30W. As you'd expect, the charger's power output gets divvied up further the more devices you connect. For instance, when all four ports are occupied, the first (100W) port tops out at 45W, so you have to consider what you're plugging in if you want to prioritize a particular device for fast charging at maximum wattage. Galaxy S23/S22 Ultra/S21+/S21 FE/Note 10/Note 10 Plus/Note 9, Huawei P50/P40/P30, Pixel 7/6 Pro/5/4, etc. I have two MacBook Pros. One is a newer design with an M1 chip and better cooling. The other is a 2019 Intel that has cooling problems. Unfortunately, the 2019 one is a work machine that I use more heavily. The problem is when you have 3 USBCs plugged.. the picture graph displayed by Ugreen is correct all the power distribution is correct here's the ISSUE. the moment you plug in the THIRD USBC EVEN IF YOUR NOT CHARGING ANYTHING ON THAT THIRD USBC - The charger itself adjusts power as if you were. what happens is you now go down to 65W but your only charging ONE item so if im charging my macbook air on Port 1 and port 2 and Port 3 aren't plugged into anything it will only do 65W so if I plug say my Ipad Pro into Port 2 instead of doing 65w/35w it does 45w/30W because I have 3 USBC cables pluggedMacBook Pro 16'' /15''/13'', MacBook Air 2022/2020/2019/2018, Dell XPS 13 / 15, HP Spectre / Envy / EliteBook x360, Surface Pro 8, Asus Zenbook 15, ThinkPad X1, etc. Universal Compatibility: Compatible with a wide range of devices including MacBook, iPhone, Samsung, and more. The top two out of the three USB Type-C ports on the charger support charging at 100W — when used individually — while the third one is limited to charging at only 22.5W. The bottom-most port, i.e., the USB Type-A port, is also limited to 22.5W. Although Ugreen endorses a 100W output from the charger, you must remember this only applies if you use the charger to charge just one device at a time. Charging speeds on each port

I need at least three different plugs (US, UK, EU, sometimes others). This needs an awkward and flimsy dongle.

in-1 Wireless Charging Station: Supports multiple fast charge protocols and Qi 15W wireless charging for 4 devices at full speed.

To test how much faster I can charge a smartphone, I used the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge— a phone that takes only 20 minutes to charge fully and comes with a 120W charger in its box. While it uses Xiaomi’s proprietary charging technology to refill the battery in less than 20 minutes, it also supports non-proprietary chargers with USB-PD at a maximum charging rate of 68W. The 100W power is divided among the ports when you connect two devices. The power output of the topmost port is reduced to 65W, whereas the second port is limited to 30W. The power output of the remaining two ports remains unchanged. Meanwhile, when you engage all three USB Type-C ports, the maximum output of the topmost port is further restricted to only 45W. Lastly, when all four ports are being used, the power output of all the ports from top to bottom is 45W, 30W, 10.5W, and 10.5W, respectively. Also does this suffer from the common GaN issue where the charger lowers the output to the 1st port if a cable is plugged into a 2nd/3rd/4th port (with no device connected to the other end)?
