About this deal

While the TTArtisan 35mm ƒ0.95 is not a lens I will be using wide open frequently, it performs very well from ƒ1.4 onwards with a lot to like about the lens, including its quality all-metal build ( even its lens cap is made from metal, versus the plastic hoods and lens caps Fujifilm has been including), its well-designed ergonomics and most of all, image quality down to its quality of bokeh which is actually pretty classical in its render.

By now I have tried/reviewed no less than 5 different 50mm 0.95 lenses. What has been clear so far: it is not easy to design a lens with these parameters, especially if the dimensions are ought to stay within reasonable limits.Optically I think this review is a very accurate representation of reality. What I wanted to add that vignetting is extremely focus distance dependent. So it only becomes a serious problem nearing infinity, regardless of the aperture, though certainly stopping the lens down worsens the extreme corners of the extreme corners. Nice review! Every 7Artisan lens I have (35 f2, 28 1.4, 50 1.1) focuses past infinity if you turn it to the hard infinity stop. They all are correctly calibrated so no issue getting accurate focus via the rangefinder patch. As the 7A has the same rf adjustment screw in the lens mount, and TTArtisans are made by the same manufacturer DJ Optical.. does the 50 0.95 also focus past infinity? Close to the minimum focus distance we have butterly smooth bokeh, but as we have already seen in the sharpness close section the lens is not exactly bitingly sharp at these distances and obviously the depth of field is thin as paper. TTArtisan 35mm F0.95 review – is this ‘the’ Noctilux for TTArtisan 35mm F0.95 review – is this ‘the’ Noctilux for

Of all these manual 50mm lens options, which would you recommend for portraits and cityscapes with a focus on smooth round/oval bokeh? F0.95 is sure nice to have but I assume I’ll shoot mostly around F1.4 and am not a fan of hexagonal type bokeh when stopping down. A conversation with a fellow reviewer today was third-party makers should go where the native lenses don’t. In this case, TTArtisan has delivered with its 35mm ƒ0.95, whereas Fujifilm has thrown in the towel with its supposed XF33mm ƒ1 ( which became the XF50mm ƒ1 in the end) ( yes, I understand I am comparing autofocus with manual focus here). It seems this has only been manufacturerd for a short time and I don’t know much about it. There is a test at opticallimits that might give you an idea.

While the scene above may not show it fully there are sample images in this article where I see a difference. Even with images at further distances, you can create separation and quantify the out-of-focus areas easier at f/0.95. The difference should be even more pronounced if you come from a Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR. Nice pictures which are from the talent of the photographer. If I want good earphones, I will go for Bose or Shure, Beats is not my reference, it is mass market.

TTArtisan 35mm 0.95 Review - Not Just for Bokeh!

If you are using the built in optical Leica M rangefinder to focus I would highly recommend using the Leica 1.4x viewfinder magnifier. I have one permanently attached to my Leica M cameras. With the 1.4x magnifier attached the 50mm frame lines almost fill the viewfinder so it is similar to using a Leica M3 but not quite as good. And for E-mount users it will be interesting to see if this lens performs better than the Zhong Yi 50mm 0.95 E. I definitely can’t speak to all of your concerns, especially those regarding the Chinese government. As far as I know TTArtisan is not a state-owned company, so I don’t think it’s fair to conflate them with the CPC. (Also, I would suggest you take a closer look at India, which has recently seen the largest mass protest in human history with a nationalist PM who is fending off accusations of genocide). Hi again my friend! I’m sure I have heard you mention the Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4 and I’ve used the Sony version and it was really a very very excellent lens. Let me sift around for a Zeiss 35/1.4 for M mount Although TTArtisan have given us the option to self-calibrate, it also seems they have given us an uncalibratable(?) lens. To its credit, it is not prone to focus shift as a consequence of aperture, but there has been some talk over at 35mmc that the TTArtisan 50 f/0.95 is actually closer to a 52mm lens, (Leica rangefinders are calibrated for 51.6mm) making it impossible to perfectly calibrate for rangefinder focusing throughout its full range. The focal plane will always shift when focusing closer than two meters and this effect will be more pronounced at wider apertures. Obviously live-view camera owners need not worry about this, but for rangefinder owners who may not have access to an LCD screen or live view, this means that when focusing closer than two meters, you can either intentionally compensate using the focus ring, or focus then do a little lean away from the subject to make up the difference.

Disclaimer: The text you will read below is based on my own thoughts and experience with my copy of the 7Artisans 35mm F0.95. The lens was bought as used but in mint condition. I’ve also bought an unbranded lens hood in aluminum, partly because it keeps the front glass element safer, but also because this lens has some major struggles with direct sunlight. I recommend everyone to buy a lens hood to get the best result out of the 35mm f0.95. I use the Nokton 50mm f1,1 VM on my A7R3 and I’m thinking of switching to that TTartisan 0.95 or the Nokton E 50mm f1,2.
