Despite that he found the experience working with him rewarding and he mentions how devastated he was when he learned of Scott’s death. New 4K restorations of both the Theatrical Cut and the Director's Cut from the original camera negatives by Arrow Films I was impressed with the older supplements when they originally appeared on Warner’s two-disc special edition and I’m still pleased with them here. Arrow then adds some excellent new material (the Pinchot audio interview being the stand-out) that rounds out what is the best collection of material yet for the film. possible stumbling point aside, this is another really impressive 4K effort from Arrow, one which noticeably if subtly at times ups the fine detail ante, True Romance is a prime example of a film that manages to fuse its disparate elements into a unified whole. At the time, it seemed like a shame that Tarantino didn’t direct the film, especially after the release of Pulp Fiction the following year. But with hindsight, it’s pretty clear that everything worked out for the best.
