The Law of Forgiveness: Though Karma is a powerful law, Shinn explains that the Law of Forgiveness or Grace is a higher law. "Christianity is founded upon the law of forgiveness - Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Karmic law, and the Christ within each man is his Redeemer and Salvation from all inharmonious conditions." [1] During the game, you and your fellow players choose professions, receive salary increases, and sue other players. A player who has chosen the profession police officer will receive a fine from each player who has spun the number 10. Each player can take out a loan from the bank. As in real life, the players can buy shares, insure their cars or loan money from the bank. These decide on a playful private bankruptcy or your fame. Cards The game of life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy.” This quote practically sums up the purpose of the book. Although Shinn uses a lot of biblical references to prove her arguments, I believe that her philosophies can be applied to all people with different faiths. She uses a lot of real life examples to prove her points which I loved since most people can relate to the examples she referred to.

SUPERSPIN: You bet an amount of money on several numbers. If you are correct, you win ten times the amount bet. The Law of Use: Shinn explains that a gift is a better investment than a savings account. "Many people are in ignorance of the fact that gifts and things are investments, and that hoarding and saving invariably lead to loss." [1] Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap." This means that whatever man sends out in word or deed, will return to him; what he gives, he will receive.” This idea that if your baby dies or becomes ill it is because you brought it on due to not wanting them to become ill. Can't get behind that. People do not wish cancer onto themselves or their loved ones. At the same time you can't just visualize and recite affirmations and cancer just poofs away. You can't live in Tornado city and recite some affirmations and poof away all of the tornados. You wanting a new house does not cause someone else to die for your wants. If they do die that is not your fault. There are many of people who knew that one person who recited their own prayers and the such.Shinn mentions that through the correct frame of mind and intention, one can get the key to a happy life and it is god’s intentions to give him that life. I particularly liked it when she discussed that every human being in this world is great at doing something, and that thing is his destiny that God wants him to pursue in life. The Law of Karma: the Law of Karma is also known as the Law of Cause and Effect: "Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap." This means that whatever man sends out in word or deed, will return to him; what he gives, he will receive. [1]

The Game of Life and How to Play It, published in 1925, teaches the philosophies of its author, Florence Scovel Shinn. The book holds that ignorance of, or carelessness with the application of various 'Laws of Metaphysics' (see below) can bring about undesirable life events. The Game of Life is less simplistic, and relies more on the Christian faith to explain why manifestation works (Scovel-Shinn references a lot of Biblical passages). I was actually able to finish it, though I’m not entirely sold on the idea of manifestation. I don’t think you can prevent bad things from happening to you just by having faith, and I don’t think you can have a Mustang GT, in your color of choice, just because you asked for one. Scovel-Shinn never suggests that a bad event can be for the greater good, which is worrisome. No one can live an easy life, no matter how much they pray for one. urn:oclc:record:1033646297 Extramarc University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (PZ) Foldoutcount 0 Identifier gameoflifehowtop00shin Identifier-ark ark:/13960/t2794vn7c Isbn 0875162576 Money is God in manifestation, as freedom from want and limitation. But it must always be kept in circulation, put to right uses.” Scovel Shinn's writing shares some common beliefs with Mary Baker Eddy, and there is some shared terminology. e.g. 'Infinite Spirit', 'Mortal Mind', 'Treatment', 'Demonstration' and 'Native Nothingness'. However her writing style is more familiar and less verbose than that of Mary Baker Eddy. As in Christian Science, Florence Scovel Shinn questions the reality of evil: "Jesus Christ said: "Resist not evil," for He knew in reality, there is no evil, therefore nothing to resist. [1]

Fear must be erased from the consciousness… We must substitute fear with faith, for fear is only inverted faith. It is faith in evil, instead of good... Fear is misdirected energy which must be redirected - or transmuted - into faith.” Players that go to college get to draw three career cards and three salary cards. The player will then choose one job option and one salary option they want to keep. Guess what? After reading this book, I have no intention or desire anytime soon to read 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne; but who knows, 'never say never'! The blue spaces have directions that are optional. When landing on a blue space, the player can choose to follow the directions or not.
