Matrix / Runout (Side C, etched, except C, D stamped, var 5): CL-3-4-A2 CBS-S-CLASH-3-C-2 C timtom D I have this from new and the matrices and details match exactly as far as I can see BUT the record came in plain white inner sleeves with two printed inserts with two sided printing of lyrics / credits. I see some for sale also list in this detail.The lyrics reflect the concern felt by Strummer about world events with the reference to "a nuclear error" – the incident at Three Mile Island, which occurred earlier in 1979. Joe Strummer has said: "We felt that we were struggling about to slip down a slope or something, grasping with our fingernails. And there was no one there to help us." [1] [6] The song fades out with a Morse code signal spelling S-O-S, [9] reiterating the earlier urgent sense of emergency, and further alluding to drowning in the river. There is a 2LP vinyl edition which comes in a special clear slip case printed with Ray Lowry’s artwork, which slides off to reveal the Pennie Smith photo below. There’s also a two-CD edition with the same ‘slipcase’ sleeve, that actually came out a couple of weeks ago.
