It's These powers grow when the group goes from Bonds to Bonded with Oli. I won’t spoil how their dynamic or powers change, but it makes things interesting. Especially considering how against the Bonding that Oli was. All things she had valid reasons to be concerned about. And it’s not like she just gave into it all at once, each one of the relationships goes about it slightly differently in how they get to that final Bonded stage. I won’t spoil it, but my goodness some of them are something else. I feel bad for the characters in a way because of the way it happens (some are forced in a way due to circumstances that I’m not going to get into).

With destiny pushing me closer and closer to each of my Bonds, I’m fighting tooth and nail against nature to keep my distance. We have been pushed to the limit, tested in ways that have devastating outcomes, and paid the ultimate price. Can we recover from such losses? He starts out as the best of the guys as he’s the first to accept Oli for who she is. He doesn’t fault her for disappearing for five years, but we learn why that is. Which makes his dynamic in the group interesting (won’t spoil it). But there’s one thing he always is and that’s protective of Oli. He’s the first to stand by her side and guard her against anything that tries to hurt her (physically, mentally, etc.). There's no healing the things that were done to him, in the same way that there's no healing the things that were done to me. Recovery isn't about wiping the board clean. Recovery is learning how to function around all of the scars and open wounds inside of us.

Atlas: “If you burn, I burn with you. You’re not alone, Oli, not for one second. I told you before, I’m not afraid.” Oleander (Oli): I totally get where she’s coming from in being against the bonding. She’s been through a lot in her life. A lot of that including her powers causes her to have questionable morals, but she is very strong, brave, and loyal. I’m no longer the Giftless reject, no longer the girl who’s fair game to the other students for daring to run away from my Bonds.Overall, I would give this series a 4.25 star out of 5 rating. There are some minor grammar or editing mistakes throughout the series but not enough where I’m taking major points off for those like I have in the past for some series. Atlas was born into a family of Resistance members, his father being Silas Davies’ second hand man. When Atlas learned what Silas was doing to Oleander and the role his family played in it, he betrayed them and only his mother was sympathetic to his cause. His mother loved him so much that she aided Atlas’ betrayal and covered for him so many times. Atlas: “You could go there naked and I would still worship you… everyone else would just have to die. A sacrifice I’m prepared to make.”

I want to learn how someone like Nox Draven can be loved and accepted, and then I want to spend the rest of my life doing it. Oli: "Atlas, I hope you’re ready for the most uncomfortable meal you’ve ever eaten in your life because this is about to get rough.”With my Bonds desperately trying to reach me and new friendships I never expected, I start to believe that maybe I won’t become the weapon they want me to be. Maybe I’ll be a monster of my own creation. All of the research in the world couldn’t have prepared us for what’s to come, enemies and wars fought over millennia. Now we’re being forced to act, but this time, we have the advantage. Nox: “You saw every part of me, and I, you. I have no questions left, no unknowns.
