An uplifting testament to the effect that a caring adult can have on a lonely child. Digitally colored compositions surprise and delight." - Kirkus Starred Review. Education Shed Ltd, Severn House, Severn Bridge, Riverside North, Bewdley, Worcestershire, UK, DY12 1AB

Actually they're working very complementary. If you want to know how they do that, just look at this Youtube-movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UeMab4U9p4 . It'll only take 2 minutes of your time. During their escape the Failed Projects find another project who has been rejected. This project is very large and is water based. Barnabus convinces the other projects that they should help this creature escape. However, they are interrupted by the Green Rubber Suits who are trying to capture all the Failed Projects. This month, I asked my second graders to help me write an opinion piece on a book they think teachers should read to other second graders. One of their favorites this year has been The Barnabus Project, by the Fan Brothers. Similar to their previous work, The Night Gardener, this book invites readers into an imaginative world with incredible illustrations. Our class brainstormed reasons why we loved this book, and then broke into groups to find support for our reasons. This was a great way to provide an authentic audience for my writers as they start their Writing about Reading opinion unit. We can now use this piece as a mentor text as we work to improve our opinion writing. Enjoy! The story flows well, however I do feel it was slightly rushed at the end (I would’ve loved to have seen more of the escape and how the ‘failed projects’ lived in the outside world once they were free). The illustrations are great and very detailed. I liked how they were darker in the first half of the book and then began to get brighter as the book (and the escape) went on.The book is so well-executed that the reader feels saddened by the glum prospects that lay ahead for Barnabus in the lab. The reader cheers for him as he attempts his escape. Barnabus is an entirely fictional character, yet one feels attached to him and concerned for his welfare… The Barnabus Project is a book with wide appeal. It is sure to be a hit.” - Dr. Gregory Bryan, CM Magazine I adored this quirky, imaginative picture book by the ever talented Fan Brothers! It's like a lovable Monster Inc makeover, perfect for fans of Shaun Tan.

One day, William discovers that the tree outside his window has been sculpted into a wise owl. In the following days, more topiaries appear, and each one is more beautiful than the last. Soon, William's gray little town is full of color and life. And although the mysterious night gardener disappears as suddenly as he appeared, William - and his town- are changed forever.Foarte drăguț mesajul cărții, ilustrațiile, personajele. Aș fi vrut să am, în copilărie, jucării la fel de „defecte” precum Barnabus și prietenii săi! So he decides it's time for he and the others to escape. With his little trunk and a lot of cooperation and courage, Barnabus sets out to find freedom - and a place where he and his friends can finally be accepted for who they are. The illustrations are absolutely sumptuous. The pets are imaginative and charming and the colours throughout the book are lush and vivid.

This suspenseful, poignant and magical story about following your dreams and finding where you truly belong will draw readers into a surreal, lushly detailed world in which perfection really means being true to yourself and your friends. (From Tundra Books) He finds a strength he never knew he had. He refuses to leave no one behind, What Barnabus and the others find is beautiful yet overwhelming, and a freedom they all believed did not exist.....together. The Book That Proves Time Travel Happens, Henry Clark (Little, Brown, Spring 2015)Interior art by the Fan brothers.Mile High Reading: https://readingwithmrteut.wordpress.com/2017/12/12/interview-with-the-fan-brothers-terry-fan-and-eric-fan/ Since their debut picture book, 2016’s The Night Gardener, bagged a variety of honours and awards, the Fan brothers – who until now have consisted of illustrators Eric and Terry Fan – have moved from strength to strength, bringing their warmly surreal, fantastical style to books by other authors, including The Darkest Dark, a collaboration with author Kate Fillion and astronaut Chris Hadfield, and The Antlered Ship, with text by Dashka Slater.
