About this deal

This story is full of color, animals, and boogie-inducing fun! It also rhymes and has repetition. I used this story as the final story for a dance/exercise-themed bilingual story time program. I had the kids name the animals and do the motions. I didn't realize it came with a CD until later, so I will be sure to use it the next time I use this story. A4 word card- an A4 word card with words and pictures for the children to use when writing about the story Words for Life is created by the National Literacy Trust and supported by UK publishers with funding for its creation from the DfE and Kindred 2. Barefoot Books is a pretty remarkable children's press for many reasons related to sustainability and manufacturing standards. They also have a firm commitment to inclusive books that showcase human diversity (including visible forms of disability). The Barefoot Singalong series is particularly special. One thing I liked about this book is that it rhymed and had a catchy chorus. It almost seemed like a song instead of a book. This will help students remember the book.

The Animal Boogie by Debbie Harter | Goodreads

Boogie along with the jungle inhabitants who flap, shake, flap and slide their way through this colourful book which contains positive messages and various characters including a wheelchair-using child.

Review: I think this is such a catchy song book that children will love and be able to sing and dance to. Talk about the pictures, what can children see? Can they spot the bear, monkey, elephant and other creatures hiding in the jungle?

The Animal Boogie story resource pack- Jungle animals The Animal Boogie story resource pack- Jungle animals

Through the jungle, the children see all different types of animals and are learning their actions, for example a child sees a leopard and learns how to leap. Read or sing the rhyme to your child. Children will enjoy hearing it more than once, lots of times in fact! The more often you share the book, the more familiar children will become with the words in the rhyme; you can encourage them to join in as you read or sing. As they become familiar with the book children will notice more in the illustrations too. Once you both know the rhyme well you can have fun saying it together even at times when you don’t have the book, for example at bathtime or during a car journey.

Curriculum

What a fantastic book! I attend a children's group with my 6 month old and the lady there always ends the session by reading this book and my son absolutely loves it! It gets children involved and makes you want to join in. Love it!
