About this deal

The differences between these brushes is in the mode options and intensity control. We do not think modes and intensity controls matter that much in your daily brushing routine, which is why we recommend the 4300 with just a high and low intensity setting, but if you are interested in more modes then you can pay a bit more for the 4500, 5100, or 6100. 4300 If you think the range of modern electric toothbrushes available is somewhat overwhelming, you are not alone. Overall, the Philips Sonicare line of brush heads is very strong and they offer a wide variety to choose from. They are top-of-the-line in terms of performance and quality. Sonicare Series 3 (left) vs Series 2 (right) brush heads Although subject to model most in both ranges have battery indicators that give a guide as to when a charge is required.

They both have a 2 minute timer, quad pacer, pressure sensor and rechargeable battery with at least 2 weeks of battery life. They offer the most desirable features and benefits of an electric toothbrush without costing a fortune. Having handled & tested hundreds of products there really is very little he does not know about them. Take Oral-B Smart 5 5000, you get a brush handle, a couple of brush heads, a charging stand, and a holder for your brush heads, travel case and smartphone stand. The step up from the DailyClean series is the ProtectiveClean model. This is where you start to see some newer technology and better overall brushing experiences from the Sonicare line. I would call this the sweet spot! For most, I think the travel case is most useful as it is one of those things we do not need every day, but when travelling it can be a great accessory to keep things together, protect the brush and the head and avoid accidental activation.

With the more premium Genius 9000, you get the handle, multiple brush heads, a charging stand, a brush head storage compartment, a travel case and smartphone holder. The Platinum is basically a precursor to the DiamondClean Smart series with 3 modes and 3 intensities and a pressure sensor. It also claims to connect to the app and have real-time brush coaching. We have not tested it, but it seems like a very advanced brush! CleanCare+ In the following sections I look more closely at the headline answers I’ve given above. For some of the categories it is not quite as simple as selecting just one brand that is better, so I explain the nuances in more detail below. Which has the best brushing technology? Philips charges an arm and a leg for replacement brush heads for this type of brush (about 10 euros apiece) but you can find reasonably priced generics that might make it worth giving it a try.

On this basis Oral-B brushes offer more cleaning modes at a cheaper price, meaning it is more cost effective for a family. Philips says that the 4300 comes with a “premium” travel case. But we found this white toothbrush coffin to be anything but premium. The plastic feels cheap and thin, and we tried so many times to put the brush handle in the box in a way so that it would not roll around, but it is impossible. There is room for two brush heads, and these snap in tight. But the handle itself just kind of rests on a little plastic depression which does not keep it in place. Thanks for very informative comparison. I would like add one more aspect to it that shoud be taken under consideration, namely dentin abrasion. Sonic toothbrushes cause around 50 per cent more surface loss than oscillating-rotating ones (21.03 μm vs 15.71μm)*. If you`ve got sensitive teeth or care about the enamel the second one would be a better choice. If removing as many stains as possible from your teeth is your priority you should take a closer look at sonic toothbrush. Update: In our long-term, real-world test, the 4300 is getting an average of 32 days of life between charges.
