Someone We Know by Shari Lapena | Goodreads

What a crazy, wild and fun read this was! It was a buddy read with Kaceey and it was one of our favorite suspense reads of this year. Getting an education she would follow this particular pursuit later in life as well, building upon it in the years to come. This would allow her to further establish her voice as an author and as a writer, as she carved herself a niche within the industry. With a clear eye for character and story, she was able to combine the two with her insightful take upon the genre. I've been banging through police procedurals lately and neglecting my physical books (as per usual), so I decided to "challenge" myself to attempt to read five popcorn thrillers before 2022 comes to an end. The five books:Shari Lapena is one of those authors that should be on everyone's reading lists. Her writing is always dripping with suspense, and she always knows how to captivate an audience. Sadly, I've only read her last release, An Unwanted Guest, but that was a fun adventure! When I was given the opportunity to read Lapena's upcoming novel, Someone We Know—I just jumped out of my chair at the chance! Hell to the YES. Olivia and Paul Sharpe take their son to a criminal lawyer, who advises them to DO NOTHING. The attorney points out that, if Raleigh's actions come to light he could be charged with breaking and entering, which is a serious crime.

With a lot more to come yet, she continues to write to this very day, as an author and as a spokesperson for her craft. Knowing and understanding her format, she has grown to become a confident and articulate writer in charge of her writing and her work. This looks set to continue on into the foreseeable future, as her audience grows day-by-day, with more and more discovering her work, something which will continue for many years to come. There was so much going on in this neighborhood. I loved it. It was a little Desperate Housewives -ish. the Drake of domestic suspense: a resolutely home-grown talent whose reach is truly international.”
