About this deal

The Slaves to Darkness Army Set for Warhammer Age of Sigmar gives players an exclusive opportunity to explore the chaotic faction ahead of their full army release. The boxed set includes a range of miniatures designed to build a practical starting force for your army, including an epic new Daemon prince model, PLUS you'll get a limited edition copy of Battletome Slaves to Darkness and a set of exclusive Warscroll Cards for the army. Obviously, we don’t know the actual pricing of the individual units quite yet, but we have plenty of evidence to go off. Either way, the estimated value here should give you a great idea of what to expect. Our goal is to build upon and consolidate the great work already being done by other community members across various forums, reddit threads, and hobby blogs, and bring together a comprehensive library of all these useful Build Instruction booklets. Many models are multi-faction –As discussed above, with the proper Mark of Chaos you can use a lot of these units in the mono-god armies, making them an excellent bridge to your second army.

In addition, every Cabalist Wizard knows the Crippling Ruin spell in addition to any others that they know. It has a CV of 7 and if successfully cast you may do D3 mortal wounds to an enemy unit within 18″ of the caster and visible. For each mortal wound inflicted, the units Move characteristic is reduced by 1 – so up to 3″ effectively. While the movement debuff isn’t worth writing home about, it is a nice little bonus stapled to a D3 mortal wound spell with good range and a reasonable casting value when you consider that we can use a ritual to increase our chances of casting it. Cabalists Command Traits If a model from this battalion is slain in the combat phase, units from the same battalion can move an extra 3″ when they pile in until your next hero phase. Overall I was really happy with this Army Boxed set as a veteran Slaves to Darkness player. Everything in the box is new, plastic kits. While the Daemon Prince and Chosen aren’t new units I think they are both leaps and bounds ahead of their previous versions. And we also get the new Ogroid unit, too! I kind of want another set of Ogroids just so I can run a full squad and also have the Champ, Musician, and Standard Bearer in the unit as well. Looks like my Slaves to Darkness army is getting a major boost! His Command Ability not only allows models in a unit to fight when they die, but you get to use this ability if you have a command point on your opponents turn whenever they use a Command Ability provided you roll a 2 or more on a d6, handy for situations when they’re preparing for an alpha strike on a key unit

As we do not yet know individual prices, it is difficult to determine the exact value of the products included. But with the previous army sets, the saving was usually around 25% compared to buying them individually (plus whatever the special edition codex is worth to you), and with the Slaves to Darkness set, the value seems to be similar. Circle – The Scourges of Fate: You can reroll hit and wound rolls for Varanguard units that target enemy Heroes or Monsters. Certainly a reasonable option but there’s plenty of ways to get full rerolls in this book that aren’t exclusive to those keywords which makes this a bit of a non starter. Not 6th Circle Fiery Orator –This general can chant 2 prayers in their hero phase instead of only 1. In practice this means you’ll be chanting the same prayer twice, which it does let you do. B

As usual, we’ll leave the rules review to those who are more into the gaming side, but briefly a few things that caught my eye: There are many new warscrolls for the new models and units, including rules for all new warbands from Warcry’s 2nd edition. Underworlds warbands are also included, but the Darkoath from the Gnarlwood box are missing. However, many units with old models are still present, i.e. Marauders, Soul Grinders, Manticores, Slaughterbrute and Mortalith Vortex Beast. The only thing missing at first glance are Forsaken, but that was also the case with the last book. Value Another unit I absolutely love. These guys have an added benefit of causing mortal wounds on hit rolls of 6 when in combat. This is the perfect unit to try and take objectives with, because if you manage to claim one previously held by the enemy then this unit will get a 5+ ward save until the end of the game. They won’t stand up to much punishment though, so if you’re going to commit them make sure you can win! Weapon Writer, Editor, Texas Native, and Austinite for 15+ years, Adam covers all things Tabletop Gaming. Which includes Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, D&D, Board Games and everything else that involves dice, boards, cards and a table. The Chaos Gods are the ‘Big Bad’ of the setting and have had a huge trove of lore written about them over decades, so please forgive the rough edges of what follows….. When I first saw the new Slaves to Darkness Start Collecting! set, it was love at first sight. The box is full of classic Chaos miniatures reimagined. From the super dynamic Chaos Knights to the Chaos Warriors with nods to old favourites from yesteryear, these new kits are a delight for a long-term Chaos fan like me.With the above you’ll end up with 10 additional Warriors for when you look to expand to 2,000 points. You’ll also have a Warcry warband, which is nice. As always, shop around. You’ll be able to find retailers who’ll offer 15-20% off the prices above. If you live in the UK sign up to SCN Hobby World and join their mailing list, with them you’ll receive 25% off GW prices! I was really impressed by the lore in this book. It's very carefully written, and covers a huge amount of content. These Battletomes often follow the point of view of the subjects of the book, and this tome is no exception. It's lovingly written from the POV of Chaos, though I really appreciate how it approaches its subject matter with an honest and knowing appraisal of all the faults and deadly compromises that come with following Chaos. Great Weapons are another cool choice but again the loss of the shield is a huge blow, though the pip of rend is nice.

Baseline Benefit: Unmodified hit rolls of 6 cause 2 hits instead of 1 (roll to wound and save seperately). Another tanky unit. They also benefit from the 5+ ward save against mortal wounds. We’re also giving them Mark of Nurgle (who is Mark anyway?) so the enemy is at -1 on their to wound rolls. This also works both ways, as units with the Mark of Chaos ability can be taken freely in the mono-god Battletomes. For example Chaos Warriors with the Nurgle mark can be taken in the Nurgle allegiance freely without needing to be allied in. Keywords: Warhammer Age of Sigmar (AoS), Slaves To Darkness, Warhammer 40’000 (40K), Armies of Chaos. There are a ton of details all over the model and, actually, a lot of bits accessory-wise to attach after you decided which games system you will build it for. We’re already familiar with the Ogroid Myrmidon from Warcry, and now with the Ogroid Theridons a whole unit of these monstrous slaughterers follow in its wake.

Exalted Grand Marshal of the Apocalypse is a really fancy name for a rule that simply extends Archaon’s aura (if he’s the general which you’ll definitely want him to be) to be 18″ from his base. Considering just how large Archaon’s base is, this pushes his aura to an absolutely gigantic portion of the table and it should make it easier to keep units within his bubble. Now we’re talking – this battalion is extremely good, especially when combined with Marauders that die in droves and can be taken in units of forty. Combine with the Nurgle Daemon Prince’s command ability and you have an absolute torrent of mortal wounds being dished out to your opponent for daring to try and clear away your chaffe units in melee. For some reason they also decided to give it a second D3 mortal wounds in your hero phase too, which is a nice bonus I guess! Pleasurebound Warband These sculpts are excellent though, very dynamic but close enough to the originals to fit nicely in in with the rest of the range. They also don’t have markings for any specific god so can be painted to suit your taste in appalling extra-dimensional overlord or overlords. A great update to classic sculpts. We will show you everything, including the sprues, bits, and of course, the size. That way, you can decide if these are worth your hard-earned hobby dollars. Slaves to Darkness Army Box: REVIEWNow, let’s break down the estimated value inside! Slaves to Darkness Army Box Set: What’s the Value? The last version of the Slaves to Darkness Start Collecting! Box featured a bunch of great new sculpts for the army. However, that was the only place you could get many of them and GW never really released those models as standalone kits. But that was then. Now, GW is updating many of those options and finally releasing them as standalone options! The next big difference between the Warhammer 40k and AoS versions is the chest armor, as the 40k one has more tubes and such. Then, the one arm doesn’t actually work for the 40k bits. The Slaves to Darkness rise again, ready to stain the Mortal Realms red with the blood of any who would oppose them. Their army set includes 14 new miniatures – a Daemon Prince, 10 Chaos Chosen, and three Ogroid Theridons. Knights have a 10″ move which is OK for cavalry and a 75 by 42mm base. Knights also have a 4+ save and a 5+ mortal wound save with 3 wounds. Their big bases are helpful for screening but again they won’t survive prolonged attention.
