This lens is NOT perfect, but it serves its purposes PERFECTLY. What do I mean? This is obviously a landscape & architectural lens and when the lens is set for those purposes, it works very well. Low Light Yes, exactly that is what I am telling you. They are the same sensor. Just a different color filter array. Do some researchVignetting is the light falloff, or dark corners, found in an image. The vignetting on the Rokinon 12mm is strongest at f/2.0, but falls off considerable as I approach f/8. You can look at the corners at some of the photos in this review to see the vignetting on the 12mm. Most of the time when I’m shooting at f/2.0 I’m composing a shot in low light so the dark corners are hardly noticeable. This is another exposure issue that is very easy to correct for in post processing. Distortion Would love to see a m43 prime lens between 7 and 9mm and f.28 or faster for a reasonable price. MF is fine with me especially if it brings cots down(I already own the excellent 7.5mm fisheye) - but the only real advantage of this Samyang 12mm is the f2.0 aperture. I am sure the Panasonic 12-32 is near enough as good at 12mm and offers autofocus too plus it costs slightly less.

Same here, I sold my APSC Sony gear in 2019, in 2021 probably I would stay with APSC, because now it's good enough for me and it has a lot of good lenses. The only control is the diamond-patterned manual focus ring – there’s no aperture ring. Image credit: Andy Westlake As far as I can tell, many of these new third party lenses compete for best-in-class at their price points, sometimes beating out more expensive first-party glass. Can YOU point out the new deficient lenses and which first-party lenses beat them out? The optics are not identical. The rear element on my Rokinon is quite bulbous but it appears to be quite flat on this new release. Looks like it's a filter or optical flat that is not included in the element count(?) The lens has so far only been announced in a version for Sony cameras. An uncoupled mount is easily interchangeable, but that doesn’t apply to the algorithms for the autofocus. The addition of autofocus makes this lens highly versatile. The mechanical version was already very good for landscape photography and astrophotography. The latter is due to the high brightness, which in astrophotography means the shutter speeds can remain short and the sensitivity of the camera low.That's like saying that Intel and Apple CPU's are exactly the same, just use different instruction sets. Photography IS about colors. And different filter arrays and demosaicing make a tremendous difference even if the underlying tech is the same.
