About this deal

I think that the Fiero has the best shell out of all the Samsonites in this comparison. It features the same micro-diamond texture that the shell of the Omni has, but the one on the Fiero features vertical dents. And I think that those look sleeker than the horizontal ones on the Omni. Hardshell luggage offers more protection for your belongings than soft-sided baggage, but it won’t do you much good if it’s too heavy to carry. Take a look at your suitcase’s weight before you buy, and make sure you can handle that piece of luggage when it’s at capacity.

Samsonite Winfield 2 Hardside Expandable Luggage with Spinner

Our tester shared that the luggage won them quite a few compliments for its attractive, hardside exterior; but that the interior was just as great with every inch of space maximized. They felt the price was more than justified based on the style and quality of the piece. It handled a pothole-laden, bumpy ride and arrived unscathed. Note:If you have never used a spinner before, it does take a little getting used to. The weight of the suitcase needs to be pushed from the telescopic handle alone (or if you have long arms, you can push the case body). It is not “always” simple to do if the case is heavy (say 40+ lb). but I find it way easier and you hit less people in crowded spaces – because the case is next to you, not behind you. You can also tilt and drag it like a simple roller (two-wheeled) case too. Which is great for difficult terrain. Pricing Spinner wheels are the best invention since sliced bread, at least for frequent travelers. Each “spinner” wheel can turn 360 degrees, which means that your suitcase can roll in any direction when it’s standing upright. That in turn means that you don’t have to tilt it to get the wheels rolling like you have to with in-line skate wheels. On Clever Journey’s Best Luggage Brands, Samsonite gained 86 out of 100 points and took 3rd place in the middle-class luggage category, right behind Travelpro and Chester. Note that neither of the two Winfields has a completely smooth shell. However, the dents on the Canadian version of this luggage surely help to make all the scuffs less visible, and that is probably an upside. But you can only appreciate the upgrade if you’re from Canada, and I think that’s a downside. In terms of durability, Samsonite does a pretty good job. Most of their suitcases are made from reliable materials, such as polycarbonate and nylon. Cheaper brands usually choose ABS or polyester, because of cheaper production costs but not Samsonite. They even offer a few aluminum suitcases, which people reported to be especially durable.

The Omni is the best choice for you if you are looking to get the lightest Samsonite possible. The texturized, scratch-resistant shell is a bonus you’ll certainly love, and which will keep your suitcases looking new even after dozens of trips. And the myriad of different colors is just icing on the cake. Wait, did I mention it’s also the most affordable luggage out of the bunch? That certainly sounds attractive to me! Polycarbonate is one of the best materials for hardshell suitcases. Not only is it a really sturdy material, but it is also very lightweight, which is exactly why suitcase manufacturers love it. But normally, all of that comes at a price. Normally that is. That’s where these three collections affordable come in: The Winfield, Omni and Fiero are all very affordable suitcase lines from Samsonite, and in this comparison, I put them head to head. What are the top things to consider while buying a Samsonite luggage, especially the Winfield series?Samsonite is well known for its outstanding warranty and friendly support. That’s why they’ve got loyal clients who remain loyal for decades. All of Samsonite’s suitcases are covered by either a limited global warranty, a limited 3-year warranty, or a limited 10-year warranty. The shell of the Winfield 3 suitcase has a slightly different design. It has more protrusions and dents – my best guess is that Samsonite did this to help travelers deal with scratches and scuffs on their luggage. Those are much more visible on a smooth shell than on a bumpy one. Anyway, you can see what I’m talking about in the photos: If you always seem to return from a trip with more items that you left with, it’s a good idea to look for Samsonite luggage that is expandable. Many styles have zippers along the edge that, when unzipped, enlarge the bag’s interior space. Keep in mind that your expanded bag may not fit in a plane’s overhead bin. The weight of the Centric and Winfield 2 suitcases may vary slightly depending on the size and specific features of each model. Generally, both suitcases are designed to be lightweight without compromising durability. It’s advisable to refer to the product specifications for precise weight details of the desired size or consult the manufacturer for accurate information. Can the spinner wheels on these suitcases handle rough terrain? Today, Samsonite is the most popular luggage brand on the market ( three times bigger than the second place, Louis Vuitton.) A high portion of their sales come from Samsonite retail stores, which are available in almost any metropolitan city across the globe.

The Winfield 3 is the newest version of the Winfield collection by Samsonite. But, it does not have a drastically new redesign. In fact, it’s almost exactly the same as the previous model – the shape and design of the shell are the only things that have really changed. Samsonite Winfield has been a staple of the Samsonite luggage family for a long time now. Accordingly, it is more affordable than some newer models with questionable “upgrades. Although this carry-on is slightly oversized for the most common 22 x 14 x 9 size limit, most of their customers have successfully fitted the bag inside the airlines’ measuring boxes ( even though it’s a tight fit). That being said, the wheels are not as durable as other Samsonite suitcases. Despite us not having any problem with them, the main complaint of other customers is that the wheels break easily. But Samsonite offers so many different luggage options that choosing the right bag can be difficult. You have to know what type of luggage best meets your needs, including the right size and weight, number of wheels, handle type, and other features to help make your travel a breeze. In terms of durability and protection, both the Centric and Winfield 2 suitcases excel. The Centric features a sturdy polycarbonate shell that can withstand rough handling and provide reliable protection for your belongings. Similarly, the Winfield 2 is crafted with an impact-resistant polycarbonate shell, ensuring exceptional durability and safeguarding your items during travel. Whether you encounter bumps or mishandling, both suitcases offer the resilience needed to keep your belongings safe. Interior Space and Organization On some of their newer models, instead of regular spinner wheels, you’ll get double wheels with the ‘Tru Trac’ technology. Essentially, this system improves steering and the ability to roll the suitcase in a straight line. But, it’s mostly there for marketing reasons, as almost every other similarly-priced brand offers similar wheels. That being said, we can safely say that Samsonite’s wheels are superior to most other brands. Water-Resistant Coatings on Fabric Suitcases Samsonite has always been a trusted brand among travelers and adventurers alike. With Samsonite, you know there is no compromise with luggage quality.
