About this deal

Over 380 individual salmon flies have been catalogued for this project, representing twenty fishery districts such as Galway, Ballina, Killarney, Dublin, Ballyshannon and Lismore. These flies were often ‘dressed’ for use on specific rivers or lakes, with subtle differences in hue and colour to reflect what was believed to be the best pattern on that fishery, at a particular time of year. A few more pics here: https://www.fishingthefly.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=9859.msg77413#msg77413... That is some drive for you from Cambridgeshire. Let us all hope we have some decent fishing conditions for this coming season to make it worth your while.

New book brings “long-lost treasure” of Irish angling to new

Shore angling - everything welcome! The opinions expressed here are those of the private individuals and we accept no responsibility or liability. This forum is for general discussion related to Angling. Areas covered would include Media Reports, Conservation Issues and the promotion of the sport. Salmon angler numbers are limited by the Committee to 35 but this year with a change in Club rules any spare rods left at the end of the Salmon Membership renewal window which is 10th February are going to be given over to coarse angling applicants. This shows the clout that coarse anglers have these days and I think it is very said state of affairs.

It's more akin to free-range farming than anything else that I think I could compare it to Julie Hesketh-Laird Truth is though, that even when I started about 20 yrs ago when the runs of salmon and sea trout were out of this world, it was never an easy river to fish but so long as I know the fish are there, blanking for nights on end has never bothered me as I consider it my fault for not solving the puzzle. I have no way of telling how many salmon anglers up and down the Wye are renewing their Salmon permits for 2023 but for Ross AC I do know and we are down by one third on numbers compared to last year. I'm just glad we don't have the same level of membership costs that some on the Wye have to contend with plus the now common," exclusive access to salmon fishing from March to mid June" for considerable sums of money, WOW!

Salmon Fishing | Fly Fishing Forum

Probably the fastest growing arm of the sport, here is a forum dedicated to the art. Beginners like myself welcome.Boat Angling - everything welcome. The opinions expressed here are those of the private individuals, and we accept no responsibility or liability. Over a hundred years after the Cork International Exhibition took place, interest in the collection was re-ignited by angling author, the late E.J. ‘Ted’ Malone, who described the collection as a “long lost treasure of Irish Angling”. Malone worked alongside Peter Kealey and Peter Dunne, all fly tying experts, to meticulously examine, photograph and record the various fly dressings. Sadly, Ted Malone passed away in 2017 and the book is dedicated to his memory. We will also be showcasing the work of Charles Jardines Fishing for Schools charity and the The Wild Carp Trust....
