If you buy the mam bottles they can just go in the microwave by themselves, would highly recommend!"Loved by Mumsnet user Roboticcarrot Our verdict Easy to clean and maintain: Clear warning lights prompt you to either run a cleaning cycle, descaling cycle or when it’s time to change your filter, for simple and fuss-free bottle feeding Rapidcool “V-tex” is capable of cooling a single can from room temperature to 4 degree in under 50s, beating other known technologies

In the hazy days with a new baby, keeping them safe is the number one priority – and also likely to be the biggest source of anxiety for parents. A steriliser can be used to kill bacteria found on lots of different baby feeding equipment like baby bottles, teats and breast pump parts. But which is the best steriliser to make your feeding schedules easier to juggle? After our latest intensive round of testing, we’ve got all the information you’ll need about our favourites. New parents have so much to think about when the little one arrives and making a bottle is one of them. It sounds like a breeze but when your baby is hungry, they’ll let you know about it in great volume! When the pressure is on, it’s difficult to remember the NHS guidelines for preparing a formula feed, but we’ve got you covered.CONFORMS TO NHS GUIDELINES - You can be sure the RapidCool is safe for you and your little one. It meets the NHS Guidelines on how to prepare baby milk safely.

Capacity: Six bottles, plus breast pump parts | Materials: Plastic | Included: Container and weighted grid Good for parents who But if you’re bottle-feeding full time or expressing breastmilk regularly, you should find each of the different modes very helpful – and the fact that the warming unit handles food as well as milk means it should continue to be useful, even once you’re done with sterilising completely. Designed for 90ml-240ml (3oz-8oz) feed sizes, you have the flexibility to increase feed sizes as your baby grows. It's been Mumsnet's mission to make parents' lives easier for over 20 years, so we know how much difference choosing the right product can make. That's why we obsessively research, review and vet everything we recommend - from the best breast pumps to the best changing bags. Items inside stay sterile for 24 hours and the lid is designed with a flat lip so it can be laid horizontally in a smaller microwave – a useful feature we didn’t find in any other travel steriliser.

What makes a steriliser safe?

The caveat is that you’ll need a microwave to use them, which might not always be available – and, more importantly, sterilising just two bottles at a time won’t be feasible if you’re bottle-feeding full-time. Commercial refrigerators and freezers are ubiquitous and are used in diverse environments such as supermarkets, grocery stores, service stations, restaurants, hotels, pubs, and cafés. The most visible types are vending machines and open or closed refrigerated cabinets. Combined commercial refrigerator/freezers are estimated to consume 85TWh of electricity per annum. This is over 6% of total final energy consumption in the services sector. Sleep friendly: With a clear digital display, adjustable volume control and soft-glow lights, preparing a bottle in the dark has never been easier

It is therefore not surprising that both individual Member States and the EC are preparing a combination of voluntary and mandatory initiatives to force a step change in the energy consumption and use of commercial refrigerated equipment. Probably the most prominent of these is the far-reaching Energy Using Products (EUP) Directive which will specifically cover commercial refrigeration equipment. Currently, it is expected that this new legislation will come into force in 2014 She noted how many bottles or breast pump parts could fit comfortably into the steriliser, how long the cycle was, how loud the unit was in use (if appropriate), and how big the product’s footprint was on the kitchen counter. It’s not as roomy as the microwave steriliser bags like the ones made by Philips or Medela, which can usually fit two bottles or a bottle and a breast pump – this fits one or the other Capacity: Approximately six bottles | Materials: BPA-free plastics and metal electrical components | Included: Steriliser and teat tongs – larger sets are also available to buy Good for parents who Develop a multi-can system to facilitate faster dispensing of cans for higher demand. Capable of operating in a staged sequence thus reducing waiting time.

How do I sterilise baby equipment?

Cold water sterilisers involve filling a container with water and adding sterilisation tablets or fluid to make a sterilisation solution. The active ingredient is sodium hypochlorite, which is a mild bleach that has been through a purification process to make it stable and non-toxic. It’s perfectly safe to use, but does smell vaguely of swimming pool. Relatively new to the steriliser market are UV sterilisers, which use UV light to kill bacteria. Their versatility means that you can use them to pretty much sterilise anything, including mobile phones and keys, however some UV sterilisers may not be suitable for sterilising natural rubber and latex (think certain dummies and the ever-popular Sophie La Girafe). How does it work? It’s easy-peasy! Boil fresh water, measure formula powder, fill RapidCool with hot water, add formula powder, and mix well, turning it upside down for at least 5 seconds. Then simply wait for the digital display to show a green Nuby logo and dispense the feed into your sterilised baby bottle. A 120ml feed will be ready to serve in only 2 minutes*. No cold-water baths to cool a bottle down, no having to reheat a made-up bottle, no worrying about making a feed correctly. Just a safe feed to NHS guidelines, day and night. This only applies to electric sterilisers but is worth bearing in mind nonetheless. Several make loud beeps at the beginning and end of their cycle and some even during, making a dishwasher-like hum.
