About this deal

However, what if you have no intention of splashing out on a new car, but want to upgrade your existing audio system? If you’re after digital radio with the added benefit of Spotify music streaming, the Pure Highway 400 might be the answer. The Pure Highway 400 is one of the best DAB/DAB+ car adapters available in 2017. It’s relatively easy to fit, looks smart and offers better sound quality than you’d get from FM. However, the reception isn’t as strong as it could be, and the adapter is fairly expensive. Alternative adapters to consider I've got a Peugeot Partner and alot of the car's functions go through the entertainment screen. So this seemed like the Logical choice. International products have separate terms and are sold from abroad and may differ from local products including fit, age rating, and language of product, labeling, or instructions, or plugs (you may require an adapter). The sound quality depends on the quality of your car’s speakers, but if they are high-quality, the Pure Highway 400 is capable of producing a great sound, with more detail than you’d get from FM, provided you have a good DAB signal.

As said, if you have a phone, especially with an ulimited'ish data contract I'd try streaming off that, wouldn't be as convenient though.Overall, I’m delighted with the Highway 400. I felt pretty smug about the quality of my install – the fact that the wires are almost completely hidden behind the dashboard is a bonus. I also like the way they feed in from behind the ashtray and are therefore hidden away when the lid is closed. I experimented with antenna positioning and FM tuning to no avail. Maybe the fact I drive a small van had somthing to do with it? Highway comes fully equipped with service following capabilities, helping to reduce potential drop-outs and maintain consistent reception from one journey to the next. With the ability to automatically switch over to the strongest available transmission in any area, Highway provides a more reliable and seamless listening experience, without having to retune. We didn’t use the ‘basic’ self installation, but anyone with rudimentary hand eye coordination could follow the instructions and get it fitted to their motor. To install the Pure Highway 400 in your car, you will need a safe and secure place to attach the receiver and antenna, as well as a 12V power source or a USB power point. The antenna needs to be placed on the windshield to get a good reception. The receiver connects to the car stereo via an aux cable. This means your car stereo will need to have an aux input to use this adapter.

But some relatively young cars still didn’t have DAB fitted at the factory, and changing the entire stereo for an aftermarket system is expensive and could lose functionality from a built-in infotainment system. If you’re planning on keeping your car long term, or have a ‘forever car’ the Highway 200 can be permanently fitted, it just requires a bit more ingenuity. I think I read somewhere that the supplied internal aerial shouldn't be used with heated windscreens like those fitted to Mondeo's.Self embly: With the Highway 200, tool- installation is possible, and the adapter can be put into operation in a few simple steps Unfortunately it seemed to be 'car dependant' (not all windscreens made equal). A lot of DAB antennas are integrated into the rear glass nowadays so it 'should' work but DAB was inherently a bad technology (I think it has changed to DAB+ now) for handling poor signal. Thing is my dashboard is starting to resemble a NASA control desk, so I want it away somewhere else in the car. The Kenwood KTC looks suspiciously similar to one of our previous Best Buys, the Pure Highway 600, and we’d wager that they are the same device that has been rebranded. That means the Kenwood is easy to fit and works brilliantly, with no drop-outs on our test route. The Pure Highway 400 consists of three main parts: the receiver which you place inside the windscreen, and the antenna which is placed externally on the windshield, and finally wireless controller which is attached to the dashboard.

Removing the side trim to the centre console meant there was enough room to feed both cables down the edge of the cubby hole. You need to run the glass antenna down the edge of the windscreen, 4cm in from the edge. Mine is about 2cm but there seems to be no problems with reception. Other than that, before I did what the earlier poster did with the aerial lead I was well impressed with the Highway and will replace it if this one is unfixable.
