About this deal

Since reviewing the original Portofino stand up paddleboard in 2021, Trail Outdoor Leisure has redesigned it and added a new colour option. Read on for our updated impressions of this excellent beginner's board. How to choose the best inflatable paddle board for you Why choose an inflatable stand-up paddle board? Key specs – Total weight: 8kg; Length: 305cm; Width: 84cm; Height: 12cm; Air pressure: 15PSI; Volume: 300L; How much can it carry? 120kg; Accessories? Includes adjustable paddle, pump, leash, fin, and carrying bag; kayak conversion seat available at extra cost The centre fin on the No. 32 SUP is removable, too. It comes with a repair kit, manual pump with pressure gauge, coiled leash, telescopic paddle, and a carry bag. The board itself weighs 13,6kg and can be fully inflated in less than five minutes. We were impressed with this board considering its price, with minimal flex, despite only requiring 15psi to inflate. Some rivals require 20psi or higher, which can be quite labour intensive.

This Summer in Greece we decided we wanted to bring our Stand Up Paddle boards with us from the UK on the plane. With hire of SUP’s at resort easily being €15 an hour for one board, we looked into the cost and the practicality of bringing the Paddle Boards with us. What weight can the Paddle Boards be to take on the plane? Montane Women’s Tucana Pants are a wardrobe staple for year-round comfort whilst walking and exploring Size and air pressure (referred to as PSI) will contribute to how much weight the paddle board can easily support. Make sure you consider potential passengers, not just yourself. In the sea I could have done with a bit more stability (or skill) but managed to catch a few waves after a day’s practise. If I was using it In the sea often I’d probably buy an additional straight-corded leash, though.

It's stable, beginner-friendly and comes with everything you need to get on the water, and its neat cargo system means that it's easy to take all your stuff with you too. The only real downside (apart from the steep price) is that while it's a delight in the water, it's a lot less fun to manoeuvre on dry land; however, Red has done all it can to make this as painless as possible. If tandem paddling feels like your thing, this is definitely the way to do it.

The outdoor water sport sees a rider stand on a large, floating SUP board and use their paddle to move across the water. Excellent for all ages and great for working on your balance and core strength, stand up paddle boarding is now more accessible than ever. Portofino Inflatable SUP is a top all-rounder which measures 10-foot x 33-inches x 4.75-inches when fully inflated and is an excellent choice for inexperienced and advanced boarders alike Bluefin uses ultra-tough 1000 Denier Exo Surface Laminate PVC and Pro Weave Drop Stitch technology in its inflatable paddle boards, making them extremely durable and capable of inflating to 28psi. That equates to not only a very tough inflatable board, but a rigid one, which will help beginners perfect their balance and stability. Wider boards are more stable but slower in the water; longer boards are less manoeuvrable but more buoyant. The overall shape ranges from bulbous to slim and shark-like. The slimmer and sharkier the board, the more suitable it is for racing and surf-style activities, but these are fairly advanced operations, so choose based on stability rather than flashiness, to begin with. To start out, you'll be looking for either an all-rounder or a touring-style SUP if you plan to travel longer distances, but either should be relatively stable and tractable to learn the basics on. They also hurt less if you fall on them and while hard boards are known for offering better performance and speed, an inflatable board has numerous advantages - including cost.

Quality of the accessories: A good SUP is more than just the board. We rated the paddles, pumps and carry bags of every paddleboard we tested. As well as shoddy pumps that could cause blisters or extra effort when pumping up the boards, we found paddles that were very wobbly, or easily broken. The best paddleboards that we recommend come with sturdy paddles, high quality pumps and durable carry bags. They're considered more durable than hard boards, which can require expensive repairs to dings and dents.

Whether the Paddle Boards will be small sports equipment or large sports equipment will depend on the type of board and obviously the airline you are flying with. If you are looking for a hybrid Inflatable paddle board that is good for both racing and touring, the Aqua Spirit Tempo is our top recommendation. With a lightweight design, it is ideal for both beginner and intermediate use. Features The Fusion has been designed with additional volume in mind, meaning it’s not only easier to get on board with as a beginner, but can also handle much larger loads. That’s ideal for bigger folk or those wanting to carry cargo. This is the downside to taking the SUP’s on holiday with you. You have to work out how you are going to fit the SUP’s in the car with the other luggage you are taking. Complete starter set includes a pump with pressure gauge (15 PSI), telescopic aluminium oar (167-210cm), removable fin, travel bag with easy-load front, coil leash and repair patches If you’re searching for an inflatable SUP but don’t know where to start, our Portofino 10ft Paddleboard is an excellent option. Capable of handling all types of recreational condition, it comes with all the kit your need to get paddling, including a bag, pump, aluminium paddle, and leash. It’s a top all-rounder for beginners and intermediate paddleboarders alike. Have you ever thought about giving SUP – stand up paddle boarding – a try? As well as giving you a whole body workout it gives you a tremendous feeling of wellbeing and personal satisfaction after being out on the water. Paddling on the surface of the water isn't all they're good for either. SUP yoga and Pilates are other ways to use a stand up paddle board, while some convert to inflatable kayaks so you can experience a more comfortable, seated adventure.
