In Sword and Shield: "From Here to Eternatus!", Eternatus was revealed to have been captured by Macro Cosmos and placed inside the Energy Plant core. After it escaped, Rose urged Leon to catch it. In the next episode, Leon's attempt to catch Eternatus failed, and it subsequently turned into its Eternamax form. With the help of Zacian and Zamazenta, Ash and Goh defeated Eternatus, after which they threw one of Goh's Poké Balls at it together, catching it. Eternatus's Poké Ball was subsequently sealed away by Professor Magnolia.
In Sword and Shield: Slumbering Weald!, Goh and Ash were sent to Galar to investigate various incidents where Pokémon suddenly began Dynamaxing at random. Shortly after arriving, Goh and Ash chased a wild Bunnelby into the Slumbering Weald, where they encountered Zamazenta and Zacian. Their attempts to catch and battle the two Legendary Pokémon ended in failure as they were merely illusions. After exiting the forest, Goh met with Sonia again and headed with her to investigate the ruins in Turffield. In the following episode, Sonia took Goh to visit her grandmother Professor Magnolia to learn more about Dynamax. Goh later received a Dynamax Band from Sonia, which was fashioned from a Wishing Star they found outside. The next day, at the Stow-on-Side mural, Goh and Sonia were approached by Oleana's subordinate, who aimed to stop the duo's research. Goh Dynamaxed Raboot to battle Oleana's subordinate's Gigantamax Garbodor, but the clash broke the mural, revealing a statue of Zacian and Zamazenta underneath. Goh appears as a character in Pokémon Ga-Olé's Grand Rush set 4 as part of a tie-in with the anime. Goh replaced the Experienced Trainer that would normally appear in Golden Chance as well as Mister Trade who would normally appear in Trade Chance! He, along with Ash, also appeared as opponents in Trainer and Battle Mode, which was available to challenge from February 24, 2020. This was considerably earlier into the set's duration compared to other sets—the fourth Ultra Legend set, which also featured special opponents in Trainer and Battle Mode, shares this trait. The lineup included one new Trainer class in addition to Ash and Goh, who had their hometown as part of their name instead of "Pokémon Trainer". Initially, he preferred missions where he could act on his own, but eventually, he learned to cooperate in a team. The Trial Missions culminated in Chasing to the Finish! with Goh's capture of Regieleki, earning Goh enough Project Mew tokens to become a Chaser.
Kingdra was targeted by Goh for his second Project Mew Trial Mission. After locating it in an underwater cave off the coast of Slateport City, he battled against it and managed to catch it. When Ash and Goh's air supply started to run out, Goh had Kingdra propel them to the surface. Grab your Pokémon Detector and your Trainer Map and go on missions! Your Pokémon Detector will guide you: Cyndaquil was caught by Goh during the Sinnoh Festival in Canalave City to demonstrate ancient Sinnohan Poké Balls. It was released afterwards. There are 65 Pokemon from the Kanto region to catch and 40 missions to achieve and win the game. The more you succeed, the more challenging they get! White Flower Floette was encountered in Shalour City as a Flabébé, but her capture was not confirmed until The Cuteness Quotient!. In Under Color of Darkness!, her flower was revealed to have lost a petal, causing her to be unable to fly properly on it anymore. Ash and Goh traveled to Kalos to find a new flower for her, eventually succeeding. Almost immediately afterwards, she evolved into Floette. Goh then decided to release her so that she could grow and protect a garden of white flowers for other Flabébé. As seen in Enter Pikachu!, when he was six, Goh was invited by Chloe to go to Professor Oak's Pokémon Summer Camp with her. During their visit to Pallet Town, Goh and Chloe encountered the Mythical Pokémon Mew. The two chased after the unknown Pokémon, but it eventually got away in the aftermath of a baby Kangaskhan rescue. Professor Oak later told them the Pokémon they saw was most likely Mew. However, despite his growth, Goh struggled with teamwork, as shown in Advice to Goh!, when he declined to join Project Mew because of this reason, but changed his mind when Gary motivated him to do so. This was shown again in Battling in the Freezing Raid!, when Goh's attempt to defeat Articuno in a Raid Battle on his own nearly caused him to fail the Trial Mission. As time passed, Goh learned about teamwork, to the point that he was willing to work together with others, as seen with Horace in Narrowing the Chaser Chase! and Gary in Chasing to the Finish!. In Serving Up the Flute Cup!, Ash told Goh to come with him to the Hoenn Battle Frontier, where he entered them into the Battle Frontier Flute Cup tournament. Despite having the type advantage, Goh was defeated in the first battle by Hodge without managing to land a single hit on his opponent. Frustrated by his loss, Goh decided that catching Pokémon was better than battling and ran off to continue filling up his Pokédex. He later returned in time to watch the final match between Ash and Hodge, which ended in Ash's victory.
