About this deal

Children can so easily use this book and their own favourite traditional tales to create their own version of a monster who travels through books.

The second document provides an ‘Activity Map’ with a variety of activities and tasks you could set your pupils based around Nibbles: The Book Monster. Nibbles loves to nibble toes, and Nibbles nibbles hooks. But Nibbles' favourite thing of all to nibble on is . . . books! Encourage the student’s creativity in naming their own book monster (for those that have the capability I also ask them to come up with a name that begins with the letter N). The Nibbles books are adorable, interactive picture book stories by talented author/ illustrator Emma Yarlett. It's really interactive - the kids can search for Nibbles or for where he chomped a hole to get in to the story book. And they also help catch Nibbles at the end.

Fantastic production makes this book a really exciting reading experience. Older children will love the havoc Nibbles creates in the fairy tales they know so well, while little readers will adore the cheeky look in his eyes as he tears through the book. The final reveal is another fabulous surprise. Nibbles is sure to be a hit with the whole family. Highly commended in the Macmillan prize 2011, Emma began her career as an author and illustrator whilst still studying Illustration at Falmouth University. She now paints, draws, collages, designs, doodles, splatters and sketches for a living from her studio at home in Falmouth, near Truro and loves every minute of it! In her spare time Emma loves to eat Jaf More As is the case with many of my activities, my favorite part is hearing what the pre-k students come up with for answers! They are so cute, funny, and clever. If you did this activity, tell me some of the answers your kiddos came up with. Kid quotes is one of my favorite parts of teaching and I’d love to hear what they came up with. Tell me below in the comment section! Nibbles the Book Monster Printable Never heard of Nibbles the book monster? We need to fix this right now! Here’s where you can find everything Nibbles: I still couldn't hate the little fellow, instead I just laughed at his cuteness and his total obliviousness to all that happened around him. Though at times you could see he knew what he was doing.

This literacy activity is incredibly simple, as it is intended as just a fun ‘filler’ project. But just because it’s a ‘filler’ does not mean that there isn’t the intention behind the activity! Nibbles the Book Monster activities can be fun and yet still have intention behind them. The illustrations in the book are beautiful and will delight both kids and adults. The age recommended in the version was 3 to 5 years, but kids from all ages will enjoy not only be told the story, but going through the way (holes) the character did in the books. Have fun. I did! 😉

The first document contains a ‘Book Talk Map’. This is the perfect document to guide your discussion after story time with questions to encourage children to think critically and imaginatively to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for Nibbles! High quality book talk is imperative in supporting a reading for pleasure attitude in our pupils. These questions provide a prompt for rich discussion questioning children’s perspectives on the book and what they like or dislike about it.

Anyway, despite my son's immaturity for Nibbles - or rather his too risky closeness to and absolutely predictable adoration of the toothy little rascal, I happen to enjoy reading this book myself every so often. It is both a simple joy and an inspiration, which never fails to bring a smile to my face. The main reason for skipping this book was that it includes stories from classic fairy tales and I really don't like fairy tales. Count out loud with the group while reading the book as well as with individuals while they complete the activity. counting exposure.

Nibbles is a wonderfully appealing 'monster' and children will love the mayhem he causes. The story can also be used with older KS1 children to explore the idea of changing fairy tale endings by bringing in a new character. They will also enjoy reading the blurbs at the end of each story which have been nibbled - and so changed - by Nibbles; something they can practice when re-writing their own fairy tales! A really fun story with adorable illustrations to get lost in! Nibbles likes to nibble on things, and books are especially tasty to him. He nibbles his way out of his own book, then in and out of quite a few others, while the child who owns the books tries to find him before Nibbles eats the kid's whole collection of books! The illustrations are filled with lots of fun details, including some spreads where the reader has to find where Nibbles is hiding. Such a cute book, I want a copy for me! Reading for pleasure and children’s literature is a passion of mine so I hope that you enjoy this resources as much as I have enjoyed making it!Edit: This post was written when there was only 3 Nibbles books available. Currently, there are four available. This newest book is the simplest out of the three, but pairs wonderfully with many preschool units. For this week we are using it for our “N” week. If you are new to my postings, I teach a literacy Pre-K class that highlights a new letter of the week each week. All our activities and curriculum are based on that letter. The class is meant to expose Pre-K students to literacy and foster a love for reading.
