About this deal

As a big fan of the Aria, I was so intrigued by the Snow version that I decide to buy it with my own money, even if i absolutely don’t need more IEM, even less so following the Harman curve.

The lower midrange is just a tinge depressed but is quite transparent without a big mid-bass encroaching into this area. The upper midrange is boosted but not too shouty or fatiguing. The Moondrop Aria Snow Edition offers a pretty ergonomic fit thanks to its relative small size and ear concha friendly inner shape. The passive noise isolation of the Aria Snow Edition is on an average level that is sufficient for the use in public transportations like bus, metro, bus or train.Seen above is the right side of the MOONDROP Aria Snow Edition installed in an anthropomorphic pinna that does well in showing my own experience with these. I have average-sized ears, and found the size L Spring Tips to work best. The relatively small shell size means those with smaller ear conchas will find these to be a good fit. This is why getting the correct tips to seal well is paramount for everyone else. The pre-formed ear hooks can be hit or miss too, but thankfully there is enough wiggle room in the orientation of the IEMs in the concha to where it is generally a non-isssue and should not require re-molding via a hairdryer. If it works well, then the cable will further support the IEMs despite the absence of a cinch for further securement. These are also denser than you would expect, at nearly 9 g each, although physical fatigue is a non-issue with the other factors accounted for. Isolation depends on the seal achieved and the two vents helps overcome pressure build-up inside. Aria Snow Edition – a bit more technical than the Aria 2021, but with lesser bass, not for bassheads. The Moondrop Aria Snow Edition comes with a High-Purity Silver-Plated OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) detachable cable with 2-Pin connectors. The cable has a transparent insulation that shows a minimal microphonic effect.

These two IEMs have a very similar design with a silver color. The Aria Snow has a matte silver finish with a detailed snowflake design while the KATO has a shiny metal-polish finish looking like an elegant futuristic creation. However it has some flaws: even on the bassiest switch, this is not a basshead set, the bass is just a tinge north of neutral. And it may have driver flex (or pressure build up sensation in the ears) for some users. The Moondrop Aria is a 10mm LCP diaphragm and CCAW voice coil DD with a brass-plated inner cavity and a neodymium N52 magnetic circuit inside. The Snow Edition shells are essentially identical to the Aria 2021 in shape and size. Like their predecessor, the housings are manufactured from precision mold casting and Computerized Numerical Control ( CNC) milling technology. Compared to the Aria 2021, the Snow Edition shells are real lookers, but for me, sound quality is still the first priority over aesthetics.

Knowing the Aria Snow has a DLC diaphragm, I was expecting a deep and full bass. It was quite disappointing that it did not deliver well in the bass department. It does have enough bass to be felt, however, it’s not as impactful as expected. The upper treble region is less energetic and detailed, while it offers a sufficient grade of extension when I do listen to instruments such like hi-hats or cymbals. The sense of airiness and sparkle that is produced in this area is on a moderate level. INTROMoondrop is now well known by audio community and have a solid fan base too. This chinese audio company always been serious about sound quality and tuning refinement, pursuing a tonal balance ideal inspired by Harman target acoustic calibration curve. Many discriminating users, however, noted that the popular tuning of the Aria had deviated somewhat from The first comparison involves sibling rivalry, pitting the Snow Edition against their older sister, the Aria 2021. Graph of the Snow Edition versus Aria 2021 via IEC711 compliant coupler.

Given the number of IEMs in this price range, the decision on which to get might be difficult. Moondrop strategically retains both IEMs in the market for people to decide which is a better fit in terms of a preference between the old-style tuning and the new. Moondrop Aria Snow Edition Specifications Again, clarity is mind blowing with the Snow, it’s clean too, a hint airy, level of micro details will be high with a source like Questyle M15. So in essence, the Aria SE is poorer in technicalities than the Heart Mirror, so you might want to consider the Dunu Titan S, which is also neutral bright, but has slightly better bass quantity than the Heart Mirror. Technicalities are quite close between the DUNU Titan S and the Heart Mirror. Bass: presents more toward the balanced side and sub-bass is more predominant, it was good control but is on the thinner side. The Snow Edition’s lower treble continues on from the boosted upper mids. The upper treble after that drops off, and the Snow Edition isn’t very airy or sparkly. Sibilance is non-existent, but there’s some loss of clarity and micro-details. Treble-sensitive folk will like this tuning, but treble-heads might be left wanting. Comparisons Mids: Are neutral and sound organic and have a good timbre but are a little on the lean side. Vocals are placed well and have good body and emotion.
