This is a 'gourmet' yellow curry well-nown Aroy-D. It's likely better than anything you can make at home using a mortar and pestle (see video below on how it's made).Heat the coconut oil in a large, deep pan and cook the onion and carrot for 4-5 minutes over medium heat. Is Yellow Curry spicy? Yellow curry is milder than red or green curry. If you are making your paste from scratch you can add more chilis or reduce the number of chilis to make the paste spicier or milder. When cooking with pre-made curry paste, you can add more or less paste depending on how spicy you like your curries. If you make our paste and you don't add chilis, your yellow curry will be mild and family-friendly. Disappointingly, the only brand available to me locally right now is Thai Kitchen 😒 which is weak, bland, highly-Americanized garbage. I have only used it as a last resort, but it just doesn't compare to the real thing. Add the zucchini, potato and water and bring to a boil. Turn the heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 minutes, covered with a lid.

While my go-to store-bought paste has been Mae Ploy for years, and I have used many other brands in the past, I've never really compared them side by side or paid close attention to the subtle differences. So, to really find out what is the best brand (at least according to me), a blind taste test is called for. Make the curry paste from scratch. We know for a fact that you can get a Thai curry using store-bought paste, we have been there, but homemade paste, that’s another level. ReplyMaesri is a paste with a good flavour base, but it is significantly weaker than the top 3, and would require a larger amount of paste. If you're sensitive to salt and can handle just a little spice, this is what I would use so that you have room to add more paste without fearing that it would become too salty or spicy.
