About this deal

Ruth Jones’ novel “Us Three” is a beautiful novel that is an exploration of the glue that keeps women together in lifelong friendships. Catrin, Judith, and Lana make their home in a small town in Wales and could not be better friends. There’s a lot of warmth and comfort that comes with reading your work. Maybe I’m being biased because I’m Welsh… Meanwhile Grace's great-grand-daughter Beca is oblivious to all these worries, too busy navigating the highs and lows of teenage life and keeping secrets of her own.

Full of such warmth and kindness, and the writing is utterly beautiful. I adored it * Joanna Cannon * Grace doesn’t want a traditional celebration for her birthday, but her granddaughter Elin has other ideas. She’s determined that Grace’s big day will be celebrated, her own daughter, Becca is slightly mortified by her mother’s quest to party, much preferring to spend quality time with her great grandmother. Love Untold is about mothers and daughters and the complex bond between them. It’s about the heartache that comes from leaving things unsaid and the power of true forgiveness. It is a joy-filled, life-affirming, sob-inducing novel – with characters you’ll come to know and love – from no.1 bestselling author Ruth Jones. This is such a wonderfully Welsh read. Not sure I've read a book where the town I live in gets a mention or 2! i really savoured this one, the four generations of women had such a special story. such well developed characters.

It was a venue that reminded her of musical performances during her childhood. It was this that paved the way for all manner of acting gigs and TV roles. This is a story about mothers and daughters: the love inherent in that bond and the heartache that miscommunication can bring. More than anything, it's about the importance of being true to oneself. Meet Grace, Alys, Elin and Beca - a family you'll come to know, and to love. Finally, Beca, sixteen years old, artistic and musical but not good at lessons, constantly at odds with perfectionist Elin who sees education as a gateway to the world, she knows she is about to fail all her GCSEs and disappoint her mother, again. Rich in warm, engaging characters and a judicious mix of humour and pathos... it's a compassionate, wise and life-affirming book * The Observer * Thank you to NetGalley, Random House and the author Ruth Jones for the opportunity to review this wonderful book.Grace is about to turn ninety. She doesn't want parties or presents or fuss. She just wants to heal the family rift that's been breaking her heart for decades. She has three brothers and sisters and remembers that she loved participating in yearly theatre and musical productions in school. It was this that fostered her creative spirit during this time. Ruth Jones is a romance and general fiction author that was born in the south Wales town of Bridgend and spent most of her childhood living in Porthcawl on the coast. She was born to a very comfortable family as her father was a lawyer and her mother was a general practitioner. And to do that she must find her daughter, Alys - the only person who can help to put things right. This book looks at multi generation female relationships and familial ties as well as what bonds and binds mothers and daughters. Told from different points of view, this book is measured as it builds on all the past and present frustrations that all the characters have. It shows how complicated and complex any relationship can be, but also how wonderful and uplifting even in the darkest moments that the maternal bond gives you.

And when she finds her - if she does - she risks betraying granddaughter Elin. Who is far less forgiving of the past, with its hurts and secrets and lies. Meanwhile Grace's great-grand-daughter Beca is oblivious to all these worries, too busy navigating the highs and lows of teenage life and keeping secrets of her own. As eight-year-olds, they had sworn an oath on a curly wrapper vowing to always be friends. A decade later, we see them about to celebrate graduating from their A levels and the start of their adult lives with a trip to several beautiful islands in Greece.

Grace lives in Dylan’s Quay. She had lived there since her husband Aneurin Meredith died in 1968. Grace had moved in with John and Cissie Edwards to turn their beautiful home, Syn-yMor, into a guest house. Her daughter, Alys reluctantly moves in with her but escapes to London as soon as she turned eighteen. Any issues with the book list you are seeing? Or is there an author or series we don’t have? Let me know! The talented Welsh performer would then decide to get into costume drama in 2008 as she worked on “Litle Dorrit and “Tess of The D’Urbervilles.

Ruth Jones is, of course, a great storyteller, and she has pulled it off again with this tale of four generations of Welsh women. That's Grace, nearly ninety; her wayward daughter Alys; Alys's daughter Elin, a headteacher; and Beca, the younger generation, just 16. Love, mess, secrets; this story of four generations of women is shot through with Ruth Jones's warmth and wisdom. A big warm blanket of a book. I loved it * Jojo Moyes * In 1999, Ruth got married to David Peet her partner and together they have three children. She would, later on, create and write the “Stella” series alongside her husband, using money from their Tiny Productions company.A beautifully written and deeply moving story about four generations of women from the same Welsh family and the secrets and bonds they share. I laughed out loud at times and enjoyed a good cry at others. A tale of friendship, forgiveness and second chances, LOVE UNTOLD is Ruth Jones at her very best - Sarah Turner, 'The Unmumsy Mum' After she was cast in Saxondale as Steve Coogan’s wife, she teamed up with James and together they wrote and starred in Gavin and Stacey the Bafta Award-winning work. Rob Brydon her old friend for years who also worked as a comedian starred in the work. As for Catrin she gets her heart broken by a local man and it is not over yet. Still, Catrin remains the great glue that keeps them all together in this well-crafted story. To do this she must locate her stranged daughter Alys but she risks betraying her grandaughter's trust in doing so. Elin isn't forgiving when it comes to her mother, she can't just forget all the past hurt, secrets and lies so easily. Beca, Elin's daughter is completely oblivious to all of it. Like all teenagers she is completely immersed in the ups and downs of teenage life, holding secrets of her own and not really paying much attention to anything else, especially the bores of family dynamics.
