Someone said to me that the rear end of the heat shield isn't really necessary and can safely be removed. Is that the case? How do the clips come off? Just looking at mine now, it all seems ok so I don't want to break any of the plastic lug things taking the clips off. Anyone replaced their heat shield clips recently? Sounded like exhaust was falling off, but after prodding around it was a clip that was corroded. Others didn't look too healthy, neither. I have searched and an old thread showed a part number Rum - Yes, the thin sheet of metal sandwiched between heat shield and clip over stud is what I will try. The video I tried linking to and can't find again showed exactly what you have suggested, cheers.

Fix depends on whether its the heatshield that's corroded away around the fixing, or the fixing that's corroded away or fallen off. If it's the former, just make a plate out of anything you like with a small hole in the middle and sandwich the heatshield under/above that.Apply tiger seal to car body and exhaust shield, and push a ‘washer’ over the stud with a small amount of tiger seal.
