We’ve already reviewed a bunch of pads from a variety of manufacturers, and today it’s Logitech’s turn. The G640is the company’s most popular cloth pad (and currently the most popular mousepad in the Overwatch pro scene) so it’s only logical that this one gets a thorough look from our reviewer as well. Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics only: to use the Intel® Iris® Xe brand, the system must be populated with 128-bit (dual channel) memory. Otherwise, use the Intel® UHD brand. The G640 is a large sized mousepad (there is also the smaller and thinner G240 and the desk sized G840) so it’s going to be ideal for gamers who play on a lower sensitivity or for players who just want a bit more mousepad real estate. The pad lays flat almost completely straight out of the box. I say ‘almost’ because there’s this very slight curve at either end of the pad which took a few hours to even out by itself. It didn’t really hamper my performance since the curve is very minimal and the thin nature (3mm) of the pad meant that the pad evened out by itself once my mouse got close to the curve, but it’s still something worth mentioning. Starting from the top, I noticed that the material used here is standard cloth. According to Logitech, this is the best material to use for low dpi gaming, and they’ve tuned it specifically for Logitech sensors. Sounds like they’re just trying to be convincing but I’ll allow it.

There’s not much to say about it, which is probably a good thing because it also means there isn’t really anything wrong with it. Maintenance Carbon Neutral Certified by SCS Global Services means the product’s carbon emissions have been measured and reduced, with any remaining emissions offset. To be honest, I’m a fan of the work that Logitech has been doing in the gaming industry, in terms of producing gaming gear of good quality. So, I already had a reasonably high level of expectation for what the G640 mousepad would offer.

Apparently, Logitech’s G640 mousepad is one of the most popular mousepads among pros that play Valorant. That fact alone was enough to pique my attention, and when I got the opportunity to test a review unit, I just had to do it. I'll definitely be using Logitech mousepads in the future. It's really a wonderful product. Logitech has me sold on their mousepad line, to match my new Logitech g403 with the HERO sensor (great mouse btw).

The buildup of dirt, dust, sweat, and what have you will always cause a cloth pad to feel different after a while though you’re definitely right that some pads are more sensitive to this than others. Processors that support 64-bit computing on Intel® architecture require an Intel 64 architecture-enabled BIOS. The G640is, despite being advertised as a ‘moderate friction’ pad, pretty fast from what I’ve experienced. It’s difficult to actually rank individual cloth pads since the glide is influenced by any number of factors (mouse, mouse feet, humidity in the room, cleanliness, …) and even though I did put it down as a medium – fast pad (because it still has plenty of stopping power) it definitely leans more towards the faster side if you ask me.

Performance-wise, if you’re looking for a mousepad with great control, and that’s all that matters to you, then it would be easy to recommend this one.
Processor Base Frequency
Because of the great longevity of the glide itself (you don’t need to wash the pad a lot at all) it’s a bit of a bummer that there are no stitched edges to further reinforce the ‘this pad will last’ feeling, but that’s obviously always something that can be improved on in the future. Intel processor numbers are not a measure of performance. Processor numbers differentiate features within each processor family, not across different processor families. As I said, I was pretty curious to see why the Logitech G640 mousepad was popular among pro gamers. Clearly, it’s less about the fact that it is an all-round excellent mousepad and more about the fact that those gamers prioritize performance over anything else.
