When they go to Clay's house and to his basement, they discover the animatronics and the Golden Freddy costume, totally immobile. John starts talking to them, then they realize that the animatronics turned their heads in the direction of the young man and that Golden Freddy's suit had given off two white lights in the empty basins of the suit; showing that Michael and the rest of the children still possessed the robots. When John mentions the name of William Afton, the animatronics go mad and flee violently into the woods, including Golden Freddy that disappears. In 1995, Jessica arrives in Hurricane, Utah, to attend the launch of a scholarship dedicated to his old friend Michael Brooks, who went missing a decade earlier due to an incident at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Appearing in Chapter 1, she reunites with John and Carlton Burke. Charlie later shows up, and in the middle of their awkward conversations, the four start to talk about Freddy's. They then decide to revisit Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a restaurant Charlie's father once owned. Carlton claims that an incomplete shopping mall has been built in the restaurant's place. In The Silver Eyes, Marla is a teenage girl who is described to have dark brown hair, as well as wearing a loose dark red blouse. A little after the events of the previous book, the police extract everything that was in the pizzeria, including animatronics and costumes, and discard it, in addition to giving permission to finally demolish the structure.

During the course of the story, it is revealed that his body was stuffed into one of the animatronic costumes ( Golden Freddy), and that William Afton (co-founder of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza) was responsible for his murder and that of the other children. Later, it is discovered that the soul of Michael and the other children possessed the animatronics, which hunted down any being that is not a robot. Sometime before the events of Fetch, William remains anchored to Andrew without his knowledge for a long time, up until the point where Andrew possessed an animatronic dog named Fetch. This dog eventually ended up in the possession of Phineas Taggart, a scientist that studied human emotion and its power. One day, the broken-down Fetch animatronic, a three-foot-tall doll and an animatronic endoskeleton were used in Phineas' experiments, the three objects put together to form a being that had agony soaked in from several other miscellaneous objects from his collection. This being comes to life and kills the doctor. And then the years go by, and it’s just another thing that happened. Not like it’s not important, or terrible, but it’s in the past, just as much as everything else. You know?” Michael was friends with the protagonists of the novel: Charlotte, John, Carlton, Jessica, Lamar and Marla. He is described as a kind and friendly person with all the people in the school.During this time, Arthur was able to pester the hospital enough to be granted temporary custody of William to take him to the distribution center. When they arrived, he burst into chunks of flesh and gristle, seemingly releasing the tormenting specter, as evidenced by tiny footsteps coming from the man. William lives from this as well, anchoring on Andrew without him knowing. William was also able to manipulate Andrew's anger, allowing it to have deadly effects on whatever it touched. Andrew then uses his rage to infect the toys, costumes, and animatronics. This includes Fetch, Ella, Foxy, Plushtrap Chaser, Ralpho, and Spring Bonnie.

Charlie and John go to a library to research the history of Fredbear's Family Diner, and find an old newspaper article about Sammy's kidnapping with a photograph of Dave, who the newspaper identifies as the diner's co-owner. As Charlie's friends mourn over her death, a woman drives up and got out. She was slim and tall, with long, straight brown hair that glistened in the sun. She strode purposefully toward the diner. They all watched motionless, as if the slightest sound might rupture the illusion and send her away. The woman was almost at the door. After the murders ten years earlier, Jessica moved to New York with her family. She grew up to be sophisticated and pretty, with a love of fashion only surpassed by her love of forensics. While people often underestimated her, Jessica frequently finds herself taking on the role of leader and strategist. She is one of Charlie's best friends.

Jason first appears in Chapter 3, along with Marla and Lamar when they meet with the other four. Jason and the group go to the ceremony dedicated to Michael Brooks, who was murdered ten years ago. One day, while he was at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza with his friends, a man dressed in a yellow bunny suit kidnapped and killed him. Over the course of a few months, four more children were kidnapped and murdered. The friends flee the restaurant and fetch Police Officer Dunn, only to find that the restaurant's door has been chained up while they were gone. Charlie later talks with John about her father; he closed the restaurant and committed suicide after Michael was murdered, leading many people in the town to suspect he was the killer.

The protagonist of The Silver Eyes and The Twisted Ones, she was killed by William at Fredbear's Family Diner, while her and her twin brother were hiding in one of the closets playing with costumes. In 1995, John attended the launch of a scholarship dedicated to his school friend Michael Brooks, who went missing ten years earlier.When they reach the exit, Funtime Foxy is near, so Jessica decides to distract it and go for her. She tells the other four to go out. Jessica takes the device out, and the fox starts chasing her through the pizzeria, even in the tube maze. Jessica escapes, as Funtime Foxy falls into a ball pit.

William fears one thing and one thing only, and that is death. While in his weakened state in The Fourth Closet, he expresses that he is afraid of thinking about how his time is running out, how he’d die if his goal of transporting his soul into a robot isn't achieved. He also mentions how he would rather live eternally in the state he is in than pass on. William looks similar to his previous appearance, but with his bones reformed to add the shape of two rabbit ears and a clawed arm.

The next day, Jessica and her friends attend the scholarship's launch ceremony at their old school, where Michael's parents give a speech about him.
