About this deal

ISO 200 is the default setting in automatic mode, and produces superb results that are still completely noise-free. Its body format is what has become known as SLR-style, and indeed it does look exactly like a tiny SLR. Its diminutive size isn’t really apparent until you place it next to a real full-size SLR; even compared to my small *ist D the S5600 looks like a half-scale model of a real camera. The S5600 also has the capability of RAW capture allowing users greater freedom to tailor shots to their specific requirements. For convenience, images can also be recorded on JPEG format with Normal and Fine settings available to vary the strength of compression.

At 800 ISO there is some image noise starting to appear in the darker areas, and some fine detail has been lost to the noise reduction system, but the results are still extremely good. Adrian Clarke from Fujifilm comments: ?We feel we?ve made just the right adjustments with the S5600 Zoom to build upon the huge success of its predecessors without compromising a winning formula.?

The Fujifilm FinePix S5600 is a photo camera with a resolution of approximately 5.1 megapixels and a maximum image resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. It has a digital zoom of 5.7x and an optical zoom of 10x, as well as a combined zoom of 10x. The lens system is optical, and the data compression utilized is in JPEG format. The camera has a light exposure control of Program AE and a built-in flash. Its sensor type is CCD and the image sensor size is 1/2.5 inches. The compatible memory cards for this camera are XD. Powerful zoom camera improves on successful Fujifilm formula with Anti-Blur Mode and lightning fast response times Overall, our time with the FinePix S5600 was very pleasurable, and it performed well in terms of both handling and photographic results. Many of our test outings were in icy sub-zero conditions and we were impressed with the battery life, which had to battle with both the demands of the zoom lens and inclement weather.

Mode: Auto, Red-eye Reduction, Forced Flash, Suppressed Flash, Slow Synchro, Red-eye Reduction + Slow Synchro FUJIFILM MyFinePix Studio also has a variety of editing features to enhance the quality of digital photos. It has an auto-enhancement feature, which automatically adjusts the brightness, contrast, and color of a photo. It also has a red-eye reduction feature, which helps to reduce the appearance of red-eye in photos. Additionally, it has a variety of filters, which can be used to create unique effects. Overall Battery duration appears to be excellent. Like the other Fuji superzooms the S5700 runs on four AA batteries, and Fuji makes no particular claim about battery life, but a standard set of alkaline batteries was still providing a full charge after well over 150 shots. As for card capacity, a freshly formatted 1GB card provides approximately enough space for 285 shots. One interesting point is that like the FinePix F40fd, the S5700 can accept both xD Picture and SD cards, thanks to a dual-purpose slot. Unlike the F40fd though it will accept SDHC cards. Overall picture quality is very good, although unusually for a Fujifilm camera I found the colours in standard mode to be a bit under-saturated, and the auto white balance produced a somewhat cold appearance in bright sunlight.

Complete with an unrivalled sensitivity range from ISO 64 to ISO 1600, the camera makes it possible to achieve crisp photographs with minimal noise, even in very low light conditions. The Anti-Blur Mode, which exploits the camera’s exceptional ISO capabilities, reduces blurring caused by movement of the user, as well as movement blur caused by the subject, making it much more effective than image stabilisation technology alone. Fortunately the main mode dial offers a little more versatility, with the usual auto and program modes joined by aperture priority, shutter priority and full manual exposure. The range of control is better than average for a manual compact, with a maximum aperture of f/3.5 and a minimum of f/13.6, and shutter speeds of four seconds to 1/1000th. Also available on the mode dial are two natural light modes, one with automatic slow-sync flash, two user program modes, the anti shake mode (which as we’ll see is best avoided) and the video mode. The S5700 can shoot at VGA resolution and 30fps with mono sound and electronic image stabilisation, and the zoom lens can be used while filming.

The camera itself is a SLR type look-alike with a long lens which has a thread so that you could add another lens. This is a cheap Bridge camera which can be used as a good introductory to single shot or video recording with several features to enhance the end result.
