We are happy to report that this issue has been fixed with the latest rendition; the Fellow Ode Gen 2. The Gen 2 has a new set of 64mm flat burrs, designed by Fellow. These burrs are able to grind finer, with a grind range of 250-300 microns and up. In comparison, the original burrs could only manage 550 microns and up. The grind range covers brew methods such as Aeropress, Pour Over, Drip Coffee, French Press, and Cold Brew. Edit: removed username of moderator. While it still blows my mind that they don't want quality OC in the subreddit, they don't deserve to be harassed. I upgraded to this from a cheaper grinder which was good but had some mechanical issues. It's obviously not a cheap product but if, like me, you make coffee at home every day this is a good investment.

Unfortunately, our coffee team discovered that the Ode produces an overall inconsistent grind quality. In our analysis, it took several cups to dial in a standard pour-over setting. This is because the dial is trying to push the burrs closer together, which may compact residual coffee in the burrs. Measurements were done with Jonathan Gagne's app, pictures taken with a DSLR, and lens correction applied with Photoshop. Note that these densities are weighted by the grind size assuming mass proportional to volume, same as the grind size app. So it's not the number of particles of a particular size but rather the mass of the coffee found in grounds of that size. Used the same numbers/formulas as that app so these measurements aren't without their caveats. However I think the relative comparisons are still useful.FLAT BURRS Professional-grade stainless steel flat burrs reduce grind time and heat generation while increasing grind particle consistency. Bigger Load Bin: The new ground coffee catch bin is now 100g as opposed to 80g on the Gen 1. Better for bigger brew servings. The lid sports underside a chart that suggests the best grind setting for a given brew method. This is a good idea, but some experts have pointed out that the recommendations are better suited to porous dark roasts than denser light roasts.
