About this deal

Yet, for those who felt Cyberpunk 2077’s many issues made it irredeemable or that the game just wasn’t the kind of open-world RPG experience they were looking for…well, I kind of doubt the modern version of the game is going to fix the problems you had with it.For that matter, Cyberpunk 2077 may never be that kind of game.

Introduces new features such as the Wardrobe clothing transmog system, playable Roach Race arcade minigame, cross-platform saves, Nibbles in photo mode, and more. Original story: After teases, and some leaks, Microsoft has revealed the Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition Xbox One X console bundle. The console is set to launch in June, three months before the Cyberpunk's September 17 release date. As for Xbox Series S…well, don’t expect much. That version of the game is clearly better than the PS4/Xbox One versions and clearly inferior to the PS5/Xbox Series X versions. I suppose that’s about what you’d expect from that hardware, but you get the sense that CD Projekt Red could have done more with that platform if they had a more technically solid foundation to work off of.Still, it’s a perfectly acceptable middle-of-the-road option. We also have the much-requested 60FPS performance mode coming to Xbox Series S consoles. This was something players have been asking about since our new-gen update, and it’s great to say that we have put the work in to make sure this feature is now available. In this mode, the game aims for 60FPS at 900p with dynamic resolution scaling in the 800-1080p range.

To get started making Cyberpunk 2077perform that extra bit better, load up the game’s main menu. From here enter Settingsand tab over to the Graphicstab using your bumpers. Here we are given five different options to play with: Film Grain, Chromatic Aberration, Depth of Field, Lens Flare, and Motion Blur. Become an urban outlaw equipped with cybernetic enhancements and build your legend on the streets of Night City. However, there’s no denying that the Cyberpunk 2077 last-gen updates took that version of the game from “unplayable” to “nonoptimal.” Those versions of the game are now free of their biggest technical problems and now run well enough to be considered functional in the minds of many. That’s obviously not a rave review, but anyone looking to play the game on those devices for whatever reason will find that this is the best that experience is ever going to get. Again, I mean that literally. CD Projekt Red has released the last PS4/Xbox One update they currently intend to release for the game, so unless they surprise everyone with additional last-gen patches, the current PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game are as “fixed” as they’re ever going to be.

CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 is being played by 1 million people every day this week, marking a sudden rebound since its launch in December 2020. I should also note that CD Projekt Red isn’t done improving the PS5/Xbox Series X versions of the game. They can only theoretically get better from here, though I suspect most future improvements will focus on bug fixes and optimizations rather than any kind of sweeping updates that make the game look like it was developed for next-gen hardware right from the start. You also have to consider the ways that some Cyberpunk 2077 technical and mechanical improvements essentially changed how you can play the game. For instance, now that the game’s A.I. behaves more dynamically, you may find that certain sections of the game play out a bit differently than they did before. Now that the game’s driving and shooting systems have been improved, you might feel incentivized to try new strategies or take on new tasks. Every little improvement made Cyberpunk 2077 feel a little different than it was before. Some fixes to the game even opened up new ways to complete missions and other assignments.Likewise, if you're short on specific crafting materials you can reroll an item for a higher rarity to ensure you get the specific crafting materials you're looking for when you dismantle the item. All other visual effects and graphics preset are identical between both platforms. Xbox Series X runs the game with a ray-tracing mode at 30 FPS while a Performance mode bumps the frame rate to 60 FPS. There are no ray-traced reflections but local shadows are enhanced while the reflections are improved with a higher quality SSR. Believe it or not, CD Projekt Red did finally release Cyberpunk 2077’s next-gen upgrade earlier this year. While that update should have been released much sooner than it actually was, I have to say that it did drastically improve the next-gen versions of the game.It is a strange marker of current video game culture that this is the thing that we most desire, since by definition the entirety of a video game environment is a technical illusion to make a player feel important. The people on the sidewalk in any given game are not there to be full people. They are there to give context, and a certain aesthetic feeling, to a player speeding by them in a souped-up future car. If there is a key maneuver in patch 1.5, it is that these fantasies seem to be fulfilled. NPCs interact minimally with their environment, and they panic when gunfire starts nearby. They behave “realistically,” and like most of the non-player content in the game, seem to be a drastic leap forward from the videos you might remember from the disturbingly gleeful “ look at this shit” responses that highlighted technical problems in 2020. In February 2022, CD Projekt released a substantial patch, version 1.5, for Cyberpunk 2077. It contains a large number of tweaks and fixes, some new content, and native support for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Reading the patch notes is a lengthy time commitment, but the general gist is that CD Projekt has overhauled some part of nearly every game system in Cyberpunk 2077, from combat AI, to player stat functions, to the economy, to the way that vehicles work. Upon reloading, the items rarity could change—along with number of mod slots (if applicable). The item itself, however, always remains the same, including its base stats. One of the big hopes that I, and many others, had for Cyberpunk 2077 rested in how it might approach storytelling in its science-fictional universe. The Witcher games are successful at building up its core cast of characters and putting them in positions where we get a sense of them as three-dimensional humans, with thoughts and feelings and complications that are rarely represented within video games. The decision to make this cyberpunk game within the Cyberpunk brand identity meant that this game could build on the deep history of this world developed by Mike Pondsmith in the R. Talsorian Games Cyberpunk setting for more than 30 years. Approach the men standing by the table and engage in negotiations, aggressive or otherwise. While the game’s popularity resurgence can partially be attributed to the success of Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series, many have also found themselves asking the question we proposed above, “Is Cyberpunk 2077 finally fixed?” High-end PC gamers are the ones who are really in for a treat, though. If you’re running Cyberpunk 2077 on a top-of-the-line GPU (with the processor and RAM that typically go with that kind of GPU), you’re in for a treat. At present, the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 is the only version of the game that has a real chance of maintaining a consistently high framerate with every graphical bell and whistle enabled. Again, it’s not perfect, but it turns out that Cyberpunk 2077 looks really, really good when you’re playing it on the most powerful hardware possible. Go figure. In the weeks since, I have leisurely played through Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time. My eyes are as fresh as they can be, since I skipped the initial game to wait for the inevitable second swing. My verdict, put shortly, if you’re looking for the soundbite: Cyberpunk 2077 is now a pretty good game.
