The collage themes include Woodland Glade, inspired by a sun-dappled, shady forest corner with ferns and snowdrops, the Vintage Blue Bouquet collage is inspired by the shapes and soft pastel colours of Lily-of-the-valley and Scabious, and the Flower Meadow collage evokes a prairie-style meadow with ornamental grasses interspersed with tall perennial flowers. Just thinking of all the projects which could be made from these patterns. Could be made into wreaths, framed pictures, put in scrapbooks or on cards. Nice book!! The book includes a fantastic Techniques Section with step-by-step photo tutorials for the basic crochet stitches, embroidery stitches and other techniques that are used.I would like to thank David & Charles for both the review and giveaway copy of Crochet Collage Garden. All of the motifs are inspired in some way by Chris' garden and the collages roughly follow the pattern of the seasons from the first flowers in spring, through to the frosty leaves of winter. The motif designs are inspired by the colours and shapes found in nature and, while some are recognisable as specific plant species, they are not intended to be botanically accurate representations of particular plants. Alongside the more usual front-on view of flowers in full bloom, Chris has included some patterns for flowers viewed from the side, half-opened flowers, buds, seedheads, berries and fungi. There is also a large variety of foliage types from individual leaves to leafy stems, ferns, and grasses. Each of the collages has a different, sometimes seasonal, theme and all the compositions are different - there are wreaths and bouquets, some

Crochet Collage Garden — Loop Knitting

Glad you like this review and the book 🙂 Great question and I think you could do both as you mentioned! Chris gives several tips on finishing the flowers and how you can use them to create all kinds of projects. 🙂 Alongside the more usual front-on view of flowers in full bloom, the author has included some patterns for flowers viewed from the side, half-opened flowers, buds, seedheads, berries and fungi. There is also a large variety of foliage types from individual leaves to leafy stems, ferns and grasses. Each of the collages has a different, sometimes seasonal, theme and all the compositions are different – there are wreaths and bouquets, some are arranged in a jug or a vase while others grow straight from the ground. Today I would like to share my thoughts and impressions on a beautiful new book by Chris Norrington called, “ Crochet Collage Garden.” I was so happy to have found it in the craft section of my local bookstore! I often sit and look through crochet books and magazines and work on a variety of crochet projects while I spend time amongst the books. The atmosphere of a bookstore is relaxing and peaceful. And, of course, I have fun perusing the crochet section! Thank you to Chris Norrington and her publisher, David and Charles Ltd., for giving permission to use these photos. 🙂 This collage is arranged in the shape of a Fall Wreath. Oranges, yellows, golds, browns and faded colors are used in this collection. The Autumn plants include sunflowers, helenium, shiny crab apples, toadstools and fallen leaves. Midwinter Magic

Round 1: Working into ring, 3 ch, 1 tr, 3 ch, slst, 4 ch, 1 dtr, 4 ch, slst, 3 ch, 1 tr, 3 ch, slst. Fasten off and weave in ends. What a beautiful book. I love the patterns and color combinations. You can tell so much thought went into this book. Some of the patterns are different from what I have seen. Thank you so much for this giveaway. Beautiful dainty flowers and leaves. All of them made me want to go to the yard and plant some more seeds for next year already. The book was a delight to see and to read. I have not crocheted many flowers but after viewing this I will most definitely start now. Thank you Jennifer for reviewing Crochet Collage Garden and bringing this book to my attention. I have one question, did you starch your flowers after crocheting them to make them stiffer or are they on a flat surface? Thank you BT Alongside the more usual front-on view of flowers in full bloom, Chris has included some patterns for flowers viewed from the side, half-opened flowers, buds, seedheads, berries and fungi.
