The Bluesound NODE 2i is a more full-featured streamer with a more full-featured control app that gets lots of praise on here. This is probably the best 'out of the box/future-proof' option but not cheap. Bluesound POWERNODE is similar to Bluesound NODE in many ways. But unlike the latter, it represents a series of all-in-one network music players. And more than worthy. This wonderful device combines many cool features with beautiful design and compactness. Traditionally for quality performance, the instrument features a 32-bit/384kHz DAC and a built-in 80W HybridDigital amplification system (which also compares favorably to the NODE if you prefer compactness and versatility).

Cambridge Audio CXN V2 network player is a great combination of nice design with consistent geometry and ultra nice buttons, and many great features built-in by the manufacturer. Let’s take a closer look at this model. Personally I would be very wary of going done the Squeeze Box route. Logitech stopped making it in 2012, any hardware will be pretty old now, how long is it going to last? the point i'm making is that you might find that playing a cd via a dedicated cd player into your amplifier may sound "better" to you than a ripped copy on a hard disk player etc. The other thing to consider is if you need an integrated CD player (one with a DAC built-in) or a CD transport (no DAC inside). Transports such as the Cambridge Audio CXC will need to use either a standalone DAC or the one in your stereo amplifier to handle the digital-to-analogue conversion before the sound reaches your speakers. The upshot of a CD transport? It puts all its concentration and skills on reading the CD disc. The downside is you'll need to make sure you buy or already have an appropriately skilled DAC to connect it to.

Yes, they do, but because lossless files have higher fidelity, the digital files are larger, so you cannot fit as much music on a CD. FLAC files are about six times larger than MP3s.

Owners of the CD6006UK needn't rush to change their player but the CD6007 is most definitely the right choice for first time buyers at this end of the market.

There hasn’t been a seriously good, seriously capable, and seriously fun CD player of this level in a very long time.In some places, it repeats the review of the previous product: CXN V2 still has a wonderful DAC but unfortunately cannot boast of having any amp. The sample rate is also slightly lower, namely 24 bit/192kHz. It’s not that it’s bad; it’s just a little lower. The Node has a direct sound and is slightly warmer in tone than its most obvious rival, Audiolab’s 6000N Play. And it has a seemingly insatiable appetite for rhythms.
