About this deal

Norwegiancharts.com – Elton John – Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy". Hung Medien. Retrieved 8 November 2021. Bally made an unknown quantity of playfields for this game having orange star rollover inserts instead of the usual green ones. This version is seldom seen, which indicates the quantity made was small. Pictured in this listing are three different examples of this "orange version" playfield. Two of the three also have a white droptarget Special insert, instead of the expected red-colored one. The production run of this game was over 16,000 units, and these "orange version" playfields may have simply resulted from spot shortages during the production run of playfield parts having the correct colors. More information is needed to understand the reason for these playfield differences. Offiziellecharts.de – Elton John – Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" (in German). Curtains", among other songs from the album, was sampled in Pnau's 2012 album Good Morning to the Night. Captain Fantastic debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard 200, and was the first album to do so. It stayed in that position for seven weeks. Elton John – lead vocals, acoustic piano (1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10), Fender Rhodes (1, 4, 5, 8), clavinet (4, 6), ARP String Ensemble (5), harmony vocals (7, 8), harpsichord (9, 10), mellotron (9, 10) Fifty-nine at the time of the album’s release, John co-produced it himself with the Atlanta-based Matt Still, who had engineered and mixed the previous set. He was one of only two other names to appear in the tight-knit team that made The Captain And The Kid, along with percussionist John Mahon (that’s if you don’t count Elton’s dog Arthur, who made a cameo appearance barking at the end of “Just Like Noah’s Ark”).More importantly, his music is often devoid of noteworthy emotional content. That problem can’t be talked about without bringing up the controversial lyrics of his collaborator, Bernie Taupin. I thought, That’s good, because it gives people a sense of history, a time period. From then, I just took the issues that were larger than life to us, songs that dealt with the people we lost and continue to lose, our personal relationships and the pressures.” ‘His defiance is still arresting’ In a rare interview with Melody Maker, published in January 1975, Olsson provided a tantalising preview of the upcoming release. “The next LP is perfect,” he said. “It really is the one! It’s called Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy. It’s a concept album and tells how Bernie and Elton started writing songs. For me – it’s my favorite album to date.” Charts.nz – Elton John – Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy". Hung Medien. Retrieved 8 November 2021.

‘It’s not something I would have thought about doing’

It wasn’t Elton John’s idea to create a “sequel” to Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy, the chart-busting 1975 album inspired by his early days with songwriting partner Bernie Taupin. It wasn’t Bernie’s, either. Salaverri, Fernando (September 2005). Sólo éxitos: año a año, 1959–2002 (1sted.). Spain: Fundación Autor-SGAE. ISBN 84-8048-639-2. Captain Fantastic is, in many ways, a highly symbolic note on which to end John and Taupin’s “classic” period. The album is the most disciplined and self-conscious effort of their careers. It’s less a concept album than a song cycle based on John and Taupin’s early partnership and career — essentially from the moment of their first meeting to the recording of Empty Sky, which served as a prologue to their meteoric rise. Release issued with 4 inserts: the "Scraps" Book and the "Lyrics" Book, a foldout color poster and a fan club insert. Before, I just used to write melodies to Bernie’s experiences and fantasies,” he told Melody Maker. “I identify with this album so much more than anything else I’ve done. For me it will always be my favorite album. But that’s from a purely selfish point of view. Whether it will stand the test of time, who knows? You can only tell in retrospect.” That same month, John Lennon’s “Whatever Gets You Thru The Night,” featuring his friend Elton on harmony vocals, went to No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Soon, with considerable trepidation, Lennon was fulfilling his part of the deal – that if Elton appeared on the single, the ex- Beatle would sing with him in concert, as he did at New York’s Madison Square Garden in his last public performance. For one thing, despite his ability to sound profound, he seldom projects a tangible personality. After so many albums and tours, few people have any sense of him at all. And for all his productivity and enthusiasm, he remains a largely passive figure, the creator of music that one can get comfortable with but which is never challenging or threatening.

Also, Diva, I like you and respect your opinion like hell but that 2.0 rating triggers me mercilessly lol

More than anything else, his enthusiasm for the realm of pop stardom, without any of the ironic detachment that has allowed peers such as Bowie to thrive in the public eye without losing a shred of their critical cache, has eroded his credibility as an artist of import almost beyond the vanishing point. For a younger critical establishment raised on the likes of Nirvana and Pavement, it would be almost impossible to reconcile the steely likes of Madman Across the Water with the image of Elton as the self-proclaimed “Queen Bitch” of pop, hobnobbing with the rich and richer, making no effort to hide his own beyond-ostentatious wealth. Structurally, the lyric is one of Taupin’s more ingenious inventions, a four-stanza free verse poem without chorus. The music begins at the exact point where “We All Fall in Love Sometimes” fades into something more expectant, rising and rising into an inexpressible crescendo. Like “God Only Knows”, the song instills an almost numinous sense of awe in the presence of what could only be described as divine harmony. My initial response was not tremendously enthusiastic, because you’re dealing with a [huge] arc of time, so you can’t get tremendously detailed. The second thing that came to mind was that we’re living in a much more cynical age now, and how are people going to view it? I’ve often wondered just what the common, crucial element has been in the artistic downfall of so many different artists. What’s the process by which otherwise talented musicians — Bowie, the Stones, U2, Stevie Wonder, and especially Elton John and Bernie Taupin — go from frightening acuity to rote professionalism? After considering the matter for some time the only answer that makes any sense is hunger. Everyone starts from the same point of hunger. Desire propels the artist through the stratosphere at frightening velocities, enabling them to accomplish Herculean feats of artistic mastery for as long as they remain in motion.
