A few problems. Unlike his friend Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt normally doesn’t take these roles and he is not nearly as daring in the stunt work. The film at times tries too hard, especially when attempting to copy Quentin Tarantino. The character motivations were a bit suspect and difficult to follow and the ending was a bit too convenient. Audio streamed at about 4-5 Mbps in Dolby True HD 7.1 channels that also plays in Dolby Atmos on supporting systems. The real good surround sound doesn’t start until about 58 minutes when Ladybug and Tangerine (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) are fighting outside the train have an outside-train excursion, as the sound of speeding trains blast through surround sound setups. We get a well-rounded Dolby Atmos mix that’s sure to please even the harshest critic. Several songs are played throughout, but the lion’s share of the action comes from fights, gunfire and, well, a train crash. Vocals are on par with what I’d expected, though we’ve got a few American actors trying to do their best British accents. They sounded fine to me, but I’m sure there’s bound to be criticism. The surrounds and height speakers do get a workout with some of the non-stop action that ensured in the film. LFE are pretty prevalent, too. Let’s face it: every “thud”, “bump” and everything in between sounds top notch. Supplements: What are the extras? Color me surprised as Bullet Train, while not perfect, it is still a perfectly fun ride that is filled with colorful characters with them all having their moment to shine. It is already one I look forward to viewing again. It was delayed a few times, and I will admit that the countless trailers and social media spots somehow rubbed me the wrong way, but it was quite a surprise. This is a train you’ll want to board. In fact, most audiences will know exactly if this is their type of film or not from the earliest moments. For the week of October 17th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Bullet Train on 4K UHD and Blu-ray. The Supplements

For its presentation in Ultra HD Bullet Train was rendered from a mix of 2.6K/4.5K sources and finished on a 4K DI. Sony's 4K release of Bullet Train is unsurprisingly spectacular, demo in every way, with fabulous video and audio and a few extras to round out the set. If you loved the film, it's a no-brainer, this is a lovely looking and sounding release.
