Whenever I tried to focus and read instead of skim (which I confess to already doing very early on) I could feel my attention slipping away like grappling with a wet bar of soap.People doing community service in the goddamn Arkham Asylum? Does it even make sense? For me, a reader who began her serious Bat-reading with Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, it feels like a mother freaking slap in the face. Still, it was a fast-paced and entertaining read. I already bought a copy of Wonder Woman and I really can't wait to read about another DC Icon. BUT Bardugo, Maas and Lu were writing DC Icons, so how could I not read this series? And de la Pena, but I have never read anything by him.

I honestly didn't expect to like this that much- I mean, I don't particularly like Batman (no offense) and I'm also not a Marie Lu superfan like some others out there. But OH MY GOSH!! How was this actually so good??!! It was such a fun, enjoyable read and I liked it so much more than I thought I would! 😁🙌 Tension grew as King failed to provide for his family with the same lifestyle they had been used to. Queen constantly compared King to her father, the former leader of the Gang, whom she held in high esteem. Tired of being berated and diminished in comparison to his predecessor, King decided to quit. The perfect chance presented itself when the Gang was hired by Paxton Powers to steal precious artifacts. At some point, King had become acquainted with Paxton's personal assistant Sable Thorpe, and the two cavorted and conspired to poach Paxton's illegal priceless collection. When the Gang returned from a job, Batman took them out one by one, until only Ten and King were left standing. Now aware of her identity, Batman hesitated in engaging Ten, which King took to his advantage. Later on, when she had the chance to flee, Ten chose to help her father, but was shot down by a policeman. Batman saved her from certain death and handed her over to the authorities. While she was being taken in, Melanie took a glance at Terry, who was watching from afar. She looked genuinely remorseful and, most of all, embarrassed for being exposed to him.
