To make the seam look prettier, press the seam allowance towards the brim and topstitch the Brim, like you did in Step 5: Step 8 - Assemble The Lining Buying items online can be a daunting task, so we want you to realize that there are absolutely zero risks in buying something and trying it out. If you don't like it, no hard feelings we'll make it right. Get the template from the shop here - it's absolutely FREE! Print and start cutting and sewing right now. For my hat, I used Lily Sugar’n Cream yarn. But feel free to use whichever brand of worsted-weight cotton yarn you like. Promising review: "Best hat EVER. Well made. Adjustment is velcro on ribbon looped through the entire interior band. So when you tighten to feel secure in its fit, you can distribute the extra width around throughout the band. In other words, it looks smooth on the outside. I liked the contrast fabric to keep the look from being too solid. The side bow is cute, not old Aunt Mable’s jumbo flower." — Tutor Gurl

Thanks for this pattern! I am using the sugar and cream cotton yarn which I find to be pretty stiff and am currently working on the middle section. My project has really not taken much shape and looks more like a large circle. Is this normal or is there a chance I missed something? Round 29 is worked in single crochet through the front loop only. The increases are also worked through the front loop. Would it be possible to put the seams on the sides? Or can the oval be modified into a circle so the seams could go on the sides? If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below and I will be happy to answer them. Happy crocheting! More Free Crochet PatternsTake the Brim piece and pin it to the cap with the fabric right sides together. Again, match the notch markings. Also, it will help you a lot if you cut tiny slits into the narrower part of the Brim piece - just like you did above with the Crown piece. This hat is so stylish. Seriously, I feel like even if I'm not super dressed up, I could toss this little number on and I suddenly look a little more like I've got my life together. It's also designed to be reversible, so if you're not feelin' the basketweave design one day, you can turn it inside out and get a solid beige color – just remove the tags on the beige side and you're good to go! Hi, great pattern and I believe easy to make. But I don’t quite understand the measures of the side piece. It looks 1 cm. to small for the grown piece and at least 2 cm to big for the brim piece. I used the adult size. What am I not getting here? I hope you can enlighten me here. Thanx. Cut yarn, leaving a 6-inch yarn tail. Bring the yarn through the last loop on the hook. Weave in the ends. Frequently Asked Questions Make sure to mark the pieces - make tiny notches in the center of all Sides and Brims and transfer the markings from the Crown pattern piece. This will make your sewing so much easier later on:

But you can get away with way less fabric if you rearrange and turn pattern pieces for the most economical use of the fabric, with the least leftover possible. Yarn. I’m using Lily Sugar’n Cream yarn, though you can use any worsted weight cotton yarn you like. Round 1: Start with a magic ring. Make 6 SC into the magic ring. Sl st to the first sc stitch to join. (6 sts) This hat is size to fit Adult Medium hat size, for a head measuring21–22 inches in circumference. Gauge

To test your gauge, crochet the Crown section of the hat pattern (Rounds 1-13) and measure the width of the circle. It should measure about 4 inches wide after Round 9, and 6.5 inches wide after Round 13. Use the exact seam allowance as indicated on the pattern pieces. Please note that since thousands of people have been using this pattern, I've come to realize that sometimes, one could easily forget to follow the exact seam allowance listed in the pattern: Note: The Brim Section will measure 2.5 inches wide. If you want a wider brim, you can add a few more rounds of crochet after 39. Every other additional round should increase by 6 stitches. Finishing Promising review: "Absolutely love the crochet hat I received. It’s super comfy and isn’t itchy on your head. In addition, it’s just super cute to wear on a lazy day in the fall or winter, but you can dress it up if you want. If you’re thinking about buying this, DO IT!" — Zee WeCrochet Dishie:Last but not least, there’s Dishie cotton yarn. This yarn has a tighter twist than other cotton yarns, which means it will split less while you crochet. It’s incredibly durable and machine washable, too.

Put the two 'hats' together with the right sides facing each other, with the side seams on the brim aligned. Sew the brims (i.e. the largest circle) together, using a ⅜" or 1 cm seam allowance and make sure to leave a 3" or 7.5 cm opening. You'll need it to turn the hat right-side-out. Promising review: "I golf and I love these hats. They are comfortable, warm, cool-looking, and durable. I need sun protection for my entire head. Other hats flop around in the wind, but these hold up nicely in bad weather. I bought six of them." — Ike Round 1: Start with a magic ring. Make 6 SC into the magic ring. Sl st to the first sc stitch to join. (6 sts) Place marker. This hat is worked in spiral rounds. When you begin a new round, use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of the round. When you get to the end of the round, don’t turn your work or make a turning chain. Instead, make the first stitch of the next round in the first stitch of the previous round. If your circle is too small, that means your crochet is too tight, and you need to use a slightly larger hook. If your circle is too large, that means your crochet is too loose, and you need to use a slightly smaller hook. Supplies And for the real die-hard Appa fans out there, here are some cozy Appa PJs to match. Thank me later. Whether you're headed to the beach, working in the garden, or just going outside in the warmer months - this reversible hat is a must-have. Love your pattern & tutorial!!! It is exactly what I'm looking for. I just have one problem. It is too small for my grandson who thinks he is the great big game hunter & wants a hat like this that they wear on the T.V. shows. Do you have a larger one or could tell me how to enlarge this one? Thank you for this great tutorial & for any help you can give me. God bless.
