About this deal

Unlike the Titanium, the 20% decrease in overall weight makes these so incredibly comfortable that you almost forget you are wearing them!

This means that if you get caught in the rain during the last mile of a run or drop them in the water while you’re kayaking, they’ll still be a-ok. While we wouldn’t recommend Aeropex for swimming(that’s where our Xtrainerz come in), they fit a wide variety of activities. The controls are simple, too; on the right-hand side are volume buttons, which send a tone to the speakers with every press (and a higher-pitch tone when the maximum volume is reached). That's important because, as open-ear headphones, there is a risk of sound leakage. Press and hold the power/ volume up button for 5 to 7 seconds. The voice prompt will say, “Welcome to Air,” followed by, “Pairing.” The LED will flash red/blue. get out of my ears, charles — Bone-conduction headphones: Long-term test and review of AfterShokz After four months of testing, we love these for podcasts—not so much for music. All of our headphones come with a user guide, but sometimes those little booklets can be misplaced or thrown away. Not to worry! There’s still plenty of ways you can learn how to pair your Aeropex or mute the mic on your Air.When you think of headphones for sports and exercise, maybe you think of a lightweight pair of headphones or some sport-focused earbuds with over-ear hooks such as Powerbeats Pro . But what about bone conduction headphones? These are best used with the headphones’ earplug mode, which lowers the volume reduces the bass significantly, compensating for the effect of closing your ear canals (sounds transmitted through bone conduction always sound deeper, and with earplugs you’re not hearing any ‘leaking’). Vocal booster mode, on the other hand, boosts the higher frequencies.

The headphones have clear high-end frequency sound, which makes vocals sound great and the headphones great if you listen to a lot of spoken word content or listen to podcasts. The mid frequencies also sound good, but I do wish that they were a little more pronounced, unfortunately, there’s no companion app for these headphones but you could adjust the EQ in your music app of choice. These are rated IP55 and are sweat proof and rain proof, but please note this doesn’t mean waterproof. These can hold up to a varied use over many different temperatures and weather combinations. Sound Quality In your first device’s Bluetooth settings, select your AfterShokz headphones model. Audrey will say "Connected." Switching between the Shokz Air and OpenMove, the difference in sound quality is noticeable – the OpenMove’s sound is much richer and more detailed. These headphones new, organic, wraparound design is about 20% lighter than previous Titanium version which allows a more flexible fit. This leads to a more unnoticeable comfort and stability for wearing. The big benefit of the technology is that thanks to its open design, you can hear what's going on around you while listening to Press and hold the power/volume up button until the voice assistant says, “Pairing.” The LED behind the right side of the headset will flash red/blue.

Standby time is also good—AfterShokz claims up to 20 days of standby time, which again seems a bit conservative. After leaving a Titanium headset off the charger for a week, it still registered 90 percent charge. A fully discharged headset requires a bit less than two hours to completely charge. Redesigned Open-Fit - Although AfterShokz Air feature a lightweight wraparound titanium frame that weighs in at only 30g grams, Aeropex boasts our lightest design yet, totaling at just 26 grams. Aeropex headphones also feature a redesigned transducer for minimized vibrations and a more snug fit. Press and hold the multi-function button and power/volume up button simultaneously for 3 seconds. The voice prompt will say, “Multipoint enabled.”Aeropex feature the most advanced bone conduction technology and the latest PremiumPitch 2.0+, meaning louder volume and more dynamic bass. If you’re into high-impact workouts, Aeropex are the perfect training partner. Aeropex headphones are certified with an IP67 waterproof rating. Shokz quotes a battery life of around six hours for the OpenMove (the same as the Air, and two hours less than the OpenRun. In our tests, this seemed to hold true – and is perhaps a modest estimate. A full charge lasted us closer to seven hours.

The OpenFit design of the headphones allows you to be fully aware of your surroundings as they do not obstruct or sit within your ears, making them great for use during outdoor sports or exercise, such as running or cycling, or if you need to be aware of your surroundings during work. Despite the open design of the headphones, sound leakage is minimal with only the high end of a song being audible from close-by. The headphones allow you to remain aware of your surroundings. Most importantly, they stay out of your ears completely—which is the big feature that drove me to buy them on an experimental basis in the first place. AfterShokz headphones don't leave you with sore or sweaty ears after hours of continuous use. The comfort factor isn't perfect—I find myself wanting to wiggle the headphones around a little after three or more hours—but it's a definite improvement.Re-enter pairing mode by pressing and holding the power/volume+ button for 5-7 seconds. Audrey will say “Welcome to Titanium!” and then “pairing” and then the LED light will flash red and blue. The key design feature of the Trekz Air is, of course, that they're not earphones at all, but speakers. Shokz calls this 'OpenFit', and despite them allowing you to hear what's going on around you, one of those small bone conduction transducers comes with a further safety option; a mute button. On the left-hand side and easy to find, it's designed for the user to press when, say, crossing a busy road. That completes the multipoint pairing process! With a little help from Bluetooth technology, your headphones should now be connected to two of your devices simultaneously the next time you turn them on. Enter pairing mode by pressing and holding the power/volume+ button for 5-7 seconds. Audrey will say “Welcome to Titanium! (or Aeropex, or Air)" and then “pairing” and the LED light will then flash red and blue. The AfterShokz Trekz Air is a very likable sports headphone, particularly for people who want a secure fitting headphone that doesn't cover or prod their ears.
