About this deal

The results were as I might have expected. All the posts performed really well. All of them helped reduce chatter. The carbon posts had a little more ‘give’ in them. But ultimately it would be tough to say that any of them outperformed the other by any serious margin. Value Thanks, Greg. All good ideas that would work, better, or worse, depending on one’s preference, and availability of tools. 🙂

The same brand is also responsible for bringing dropper seatposts to the road audience: the Specialized Diverge, in its S-Works form, features a 'Command' dropper post. The theory is that those riding the adventure road bike, like mountain bikers, will want to be able to adjust their saddle height to suit the terrain. A more modern trend, mostly on mountain bikes, where stronger seatposts are required (without too much extra weight) led to a new “oversized” standard of 27.4 mm (and wider). Start at our worldwide routes map to dig into our detailed guides with GPS maps and inspiring photography. not a mention here of size 26.0 post on my old TREK antelope. That is the number stamped on the current post and it fits snug but slides nice so it must be correct. And the caliper confirms too. I am trying to find a seat thudbuster for that size. May be impossible as it looks to be a very rare size seatpost. suggestions? thanks, Brian maybe I should get a newer bike!!!!! It’s an antique.to status. UK residents only. Sigma Sports Limited acts as a broker “Licence Number 688619” and not How is Cannondale Save seatpost? I've read somewhere that it's way better and more compliand compared to Cannondale C2 seatpost. Skinnier seatposts are in vogue at the moment for the same reason skinny seatstays are popular: the theory is that they offer greater flex and therefore comfort. The Cirrus KINEKT 2.1 is an aluminum suspension seatpost that’s designed to isolate your body from surface vibrations and impacts to improve comfort and control. Each post comes with two extra springs so you can mix and match, creating a custom experience. The KINEKT post springs are available in five color-coded tensions for riders ranging from 50-320 pounds.

I’ve only gotten four or five rides in with the new Thudbuster, but I’m quite impressed. The redesigned seat clamp is fantastic, and I found the new elastomer system to work very well. Unlike some of the softer, coil-sprung posts, the new Thudbuster offers a nice mix of chatter dampening and medium-hit suspension to take the edge off of sharper bumps. And, it doesn’t feel as if it has as much of an effect on pedaling efficiency as other, longer travel posts do. There are different lengths on offer, too. Seatposts will have a marker which shows the minimum amount of post that can be inside the seat tube. If you ride a small frame with a lot of seatpost showing, you'll need to make sure you buy a post that allows for this.

Suspension Seatposts Wrap Up

Getting a saddle straight in the clamps can, at times, be a minor faff. Too often the clamp mechanism can be slow to react or overly sensitive to the tightening of the bolts. Not here. I had my saddle set and tightened almost immediately. It really was that simple. Once on, the seat looked reassuringly solid in its level position. I trusted it would remain so once I got riding… Enve carbon seatpost - the ride

We were very impressed with the way that the Thudbuster allowed for a smooth and controlled cadence over rough terrain. With other seatposts on the same paths, the result had always been an over-geared hover over the saddle to try and mitigate the incessant impacts. When engaged, the suspension linkage compresses a steel spring inside the post’s column that’s sandwiched in between two plastic spacers. All of these innards are compressed against a hollow plastic pipe that seats against a threaded preload screw at the bottom of the post. Redshift also includes a smaller, secondary internal spring to provide additional firmness, depending on your desired ride feel. The photo sequence above shows me sitting on it set up out of the box—main spring only, with preload somewhere in the middle—with its sag affected by only my weight (about 175lbs).If all else fails, and taking a frame to a certified carbon repair shop is not an option, that could be attempted. Cane Creek’s eeSilk suspension seatpost offers 20mm of elastomer-based vertical compliance and is made from forged and machined aluminum with titanium fastening hardware. This emphasis on premium materials, along with the post’s minimalistic design, means the eeSilk weighs in at less than 300 grams–a comparable weight to many performance alloy seatposts. Though some brands like to play exception to the rule, the majority of bikes are designed to fit a seatpost of either 31.6mm or 27.2mm. I would love to know why every 25.4mm seatpost i have been trying to get for my vintage bike (need something ~300mm long) is not actually 25.4mm. Two “25.4” posts so far have been measured at .988 inches. Infuriating :). The one that was on the bike is exactly 1″/25.4mm so everything else will not clamp/fall in.
